"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."
(2 Peter 2:1 KJV)
Jesus warned us that “false Christs" and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even Our Awesome God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also 2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18). The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers is to know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and who makes a careful study of the Bible can identify false doctrine. For example, a believer who has read the activities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Matthew 3:16-17 will immediately question any doctrine that denies the Trinity. Therefore, step one is to study the Bible and judge all teaching by what the Scripture says.
Both Peter and Jude write in their epistles warning us about false teachers in the churches posing as Christians and changing Our Awesome God's Holy Word. They have written these things about false teachers because; to be forewarned is to be ready when you hear one and not to believe one. Peter and Jude are warning us that these false teachers are out there and have disrupted other churches. When you hear preaching on the TV or in your church pulpit, listen carefully, take down Scriptures (later look them up and see if they say to you what the person preaching said and then check with someone who knows their Bible, what does it say to them) and know your Bible. While we know the Bible is completely true, human interpretation may not be so accurate, whether intentionally or by honest mistake.
Our Awesome God wants you to know Him well enough that you will check on anything that doesn't sound like God or what He would want you to believe or do. There are false teachers and even false prophets so don't get pulled into a false religion or cult by listening to them. Read your Bible and pray daily keeping your focus on God!
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM and at 6:00 PM for Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and a Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study and Youth Chapel until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
(1 Timothy 4:12 KJV)
Our Awesome God inspired Paul to write these words to Timothy in the above Holy Bible Scripture. It shows that you are watched as an example, sometimes because you are young, sometimes because you are old and sometimes because you are a Christian. And sometimes because you have been all the above and have not always kept God's Word as you should.
A story is told of a high school senior who was honored for his integrity. It seems that they were in a spelling bee contest and the senior was given the word auditorium to spell. Bruce, the senior, looked down to think about how it was spelled and there it was written on the podium. He showed the judges where it was written and was given a harder word to spell. But his honesty was noticed and he was honored for it.
We just don't know when our actions might become an example to those around us. Our God wants us to be good examples of loving others more than ourselves, of honesty, of righteousness, of honoring God and justice. But if we are living our lives each day as Our Awesome God and Jesus Christ asked us to, then our behavior will model Their righteousness and love, no matter who is watching. Righteousness, love, honor for our God, and justice should be the goal of all Christians no matter what their age. Occasionally, we should play back in our minds what was said and make sure our part was truly honoring our Lord. Then ask yourself have I been a good example today for our Lord?
Keep your focus on Our Awesome God and what He would want you to do. Join us in praising and worshipping Our Awesome God at your church or mine but praise Him! He wants you to be a living example of what Jesus Christ taught everyday and in every way.
Join us at LWBC every Sunday at 9:30 AM, we have small group Bible Studies and at 10:30 AM, we meet in the sanctuary for Worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study and Youth Chapel until 8:00 PM. Our programs are varied as we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible. We love visitors and practice the "love one another" commandment to all.
"And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:"
(Numbers 21:16-17 KJV)
Our Awesome God, as usual, knew what the people needed after wandering in the dry desert and before they complained. He told Moses what to do, how to do it and where to do it. So Moses gathered the people around him and the princes and nobles took turns digging the well at Beer. Suddenly they began to sing as the water bubbled up and started gushing out. Our Awesome God had provided for them again. Israel had gotten into a stream of water under the ground that may never have been seen before but God knew it was there.
This stream that Moses and Israel found that day was just one of the blessings that Our Awesome God gave them and that He gives us every day. Israel was happy that day and they praised God. They didn't always praise Him. They often complained and grumbled. But, do we always praise Him when things like the "river of blessings" occur in our lives? We like praise and "thank you's" for things we have done well or from people we have helped (though we should not do things because we expect either from them). Our Awesome God also loves your "thanks" and praise.
We need to remember that Our Awesome God keeps the planets on their axes, the oxygen enough for us to live, the food supply enough to feed us, Satan from killing us, His Christian people telling the people of the world about Jesus' salvation, His anger under control, etc. God, in short, keeps us living here on earth until the last person who will be saved by believing on Jesus Christ has done so.
Praising Our Awesome God is something we don't do enough. It makes us feel good and it makes God feel good. So start your day off by praising God for what He did yesterday and what He will do today for you! Make praising a habit you do for all around you. God is blessing you daily!
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and how to teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study and Youth Chapel until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judea flee to the mountains:"
(Matthew 24:15-16 KJV)
Our Awesome God had His Biblical writers to write only seven Bible passages referring to what is called the "abomination of desolation". Three are in the Old Testament Book of Daniel, three are quotes of Jesus in the gospels and one is in Revelation. Other than the "future," the time of the event is not given and none of them give a clear description. Taken together, however, we can assemble some of the circumstances and certain actions that will take place.
First of all, Our Awesome God had the one writer state that the location clearly would be the Temple in Jerusalem. It is in a time of conquest when a foreign army surrounds the city. The actual event is the installation of an idol in the temple by the conquering commander who requires it to be worshipped as our God was. One event that fits the facts has already occurred. Antiochus IV Epiphanes conquered Jerusalem in 167 BC and set up an image of Zeus, along with an alter, in the temple. This may have been the fulfillment of one of Daniel's prophecies but it obviously is not the event of Jesus' warning.
Revelation 13:14-15 of our Holy Bible describes an event in the middle of the tribulation period, which is also consistent with all the prophesies. The "False Prophet" will set up an image of the "Beast" or Antichrist in the rebuilt temple and require its worship as a god on pain of death.
"The 'Abomination of Desolation' Identified at Last (by 7 Clues)" http://www.escapeallthesethings.com/abomination-desolation.htm, a paper by Tim McHyde, uses these seven scriptures and a few others to give us a basis for understanding and reasons for not believing other theories which have been offered over the years.
We need to know what these Bible Scriptures are saying and realize that, if you are a Christian, you won't go through the Tribulation Period. But read Tim McHyde's paper on the "Abomination of Desolation" referenced above because it will be a Terrible Time to live on earth.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for Worship Service. At 6:00 PM we have a Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows along with a separate Spanish Bible Study and Youth Chapel until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."
(1 John 1:3 KJV)
Prayer is fellowship and creates greater knowledge and understanding of God. Your prayers should become so varied that soon you will have a relationship such that you can ask Him anything and be comfortable as you do it. At times, you will just praise and adore Him. At other times, you will ask Our Awesome God for something that you really want Him to give you. Sometimes, when you think about your prayer you realize, it was one of Father and child and, at other times, it was disciple to teacher. Your relationship to God will change and hopefully mature as you learn more from the Creator of all.
As your prayers change, though, so will your relationship with God. There are about five basic forms that your prayers usually fall under, but many different ways you will phrase them. 1) The form that most prayers will fall under is adoration, 2) The next form is Intercession, 3) Another form is petition, 4) Still another form is repentance, and 5) The last is deliverance. There are three attitudes that should be present in all these prayers: dependence, earnestness and persistence.
In all the forms of prayer mentioned, we align our thinking with Our Awesome God remembering His love and purpose are for our good and remain completely open to Him. We must remain identified with God and that brings our thoughts in alignment with His. Whichever form we use to pray, we will soon realize that His purposes, no matter what the circumstances may be, are the right ones. Prayer is fellowship with Our Awesome God that, as we tell Him our thoughts and petitions, it grows into a close relationship and love for Him. We know that He is our Father and is right in guiding us through this earthly life, because He loves us and wants us to mature.
Our Awesome God wants your prayers because He wants a closer relationship with you, His child! Join a church (if you haven't already) that prays often and loves our God. His son, Jesus Christ, died for you and took your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. So learn more about this Only God by praying. Praise the Lord!
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Sunday evening we have Bible Study at 6:00 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study and Youth Chapel until 8:00 PM. "Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house... And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
(Luke 10:38, 41-42 KJV)
We know a little about Martha, her sister (Mary) and Lazarus, her brother who lived in Bethany, but Our Awesome God doesn't tell us much. In the Holy Bible, the Book of Luke uses about 70 words to tell us about these three siblings whom Jesus loved. Lazarus never spoke in the Bible, even after Jesus raised him from the dead (Luke 11:1-12:11). But Martha spoke to Jesus about Mary who sat at Jesus' feet, just listening, while Martha did all the work to get the house and meals ready for Jesus Christ's visit. She thought Mary should help her.
Jesus rebuked Martha about wanting her sister to work instead of learn about Our Awesome God while He was there. Jesus knew that Martha had already accepted Him as the Son of God. (John 11:27) But Mary still had a need and Jesus said, "...Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42 KJV). Jesus also knew that this woman would anoint Him before
He died on the cross. Martha listened to Jesus and apparently went about preparing the meal, content with His comment her faith was great.
We should realize when we read our Holy Bibles and as we go through life that each of us are at a different place in our earthly walk with Our Awesome God and our needs may be different. Martha was content with her knowledge of Jesus Christ and what He was teaching at this time but other questions still may have occurred to her as she pondered what she knew. So, even her needs of God would change just as ours do. She waited for her sister's needs to be satisfied. A good lesson for us all!
We need to listen also and get our facts in order about Our Awesome God and His Son, Jesus. It is important to do physical work for God but your spiritual needs should be taken care of first. Spiritual needs can only be satisfied through the Word of God. Study your Holy Bible and go to a church like ours, which preaches the Word of God from the Holy Bible. When you seek after Him, Our Awesome God will be found, and He will bless you!

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty… He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler".
(Psalms 91:1, 4 KJV)
The Shelter of Our Awesome God's Wings provides safety, truth and refuge. In Psalm 17:8, David asked the Lord to hide him in the shadow of His wings, protecting him from danger and attack. We may not have physical enemies attacking us, as David did, but Satan is continually attacking us with fears, despair, grief, discouragement, and countless other negative thoughts. When we cry out to God for His protection, His Word and Spirit are our refuge and truth.
Our Awesome God's wings bring healing. Malachi 4:2 says the Son of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. Although the Lord may not always bring us physical healing from all our infirmities, He heals our souls and spirits. He replaces our earthly values and desires with His eternal heavenly ones. He brings us through our times of grief, pain, and suffering. And He restores our souls if we ask.
God's wings offer protection, shelter, and provision. Luke 13:34 tells us how God longed to gather His people under His wings like a mother bird yet they would not come. Most of us have known the comfort and parental provision of food, housing, and other necessities of life. Our Awesome God will meet all of these earthly needs and more. The wings of God not only provided David with these comforts, but they also provided a place for David to praise Him. We can sing our songs of praise to Him as well, knowing that the warmth and security of His wings cover us even on our most lonely or pain-filled days. They will carry us with the strength we need until He flies us home.
Our Awesome God wants us to lean on Him and realize He can and will provide His children with shelter, protection, healing, comfort and freedom from despair. He wants to be our main focus in this world and in heaven, giving us everything we need. He will meet all our needs from food, clothing, shelter, to warmth, love, strength, and salvation through Jesus Christ if we become Christians.
