"Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."
(James 4:2 KJV)
"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
(Isaiah 65:24 KJV)
We need to remember that praying is talking, listening and communing with Our Awesome God as we enter into the very presence of the Almighty. Praying is possible for the unbeliever but God wants you to acknowledge that you are a sinner and to believe in Jesus Christ, then obey Him, but He hears your prayer of repentance. Reading a Holy Bible and joining a church that preaches and teaches God's Holy Bible is a good approach to learning more about God, but to really have Him listen and communicate with you requires your becoming a Christian. Still, the two best ways of getting to know God are praying and reading His Holy Bible.
Jeremiah, the prophet, wrote, "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts." (Jeremiah 15:16 KJV). The Word of God shaped his life and his prayers. Does it shape ours? Meditation on His Word is necessary to understand God's will and how to talk to Him knowing He will do what is best for all.
From reading the Bible, we are able to know that God wants us to pray and ask for His help. Jesus said, "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41 KJV) We understand that God loves us and wants us to ask, believing that we will get what we ask for if is for the best. We need to read our Bible daily and then pray. Ask Our Awesome God to open your heart so you can understand His Word and what He wants for you. You should learn something new about Him daily whether you are an unbeliever or a Christian.
We need to believe and know that Our Awesome God created us and wants what is best for all of us because of His great love. So as we pray or talk to Him we should ask for what we want and know that what He does will be for the best. It is not always what we think we want.
