"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
(Romans 5:8 KJV)
Paul of Tarsus
By Jack Zavada
"The Apostle Paul, who started as one of Christianity's most zealous enemies, was hand-picked by Jesus Christ to become the gospel's most ardent messenger. Paul traveled tirelessly through the ancient world, taking the message of salvation to the Gentiles. Paul towers as one of the all-time giants of Christianity.
"The Apostle Paul's Accomplishments:
When Saul of Tarsus, who was later renamed Paul, saw the resurrected Jesus Christ on the Damascus Road, Saul converted to Christianity. He made three long missionary journeys throughout the Roman Empire, planting churches, preaching the gospel, and giving strength and encouragement to early Christians. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, Paul is credited as the author of 13 of them. While he was proud of his Jewish heritage, Paul saw that the gospel was for the Gentiles as well. Paul was martyred for his faith in Christ by the Romans, about 64 or 65 A.D...
"Paul had a brilliant mind, a commanding knowledge of philosophy and religion, and could debate with the most educated scholars of his day. At the same time, his clear, understandable explanation of the gospel made his letters to early churches the foundation of Christian theology. Tradition portrays Paul as a physically small man, but he endured enormous physical hardships on his missionary journeys. His perseverance in the face of danger and persecution has inspired countless missionaries since...

Paul was famous and did many things that furthered Christianity but most of all he was persistent and never gave up because Paul realized that Our Awesome God never gave up on him even when he was killing Christians. We as Christians should be as persistent as Paul. Come join us as we at LWBC learn more about Our Awesome God and His purposes for His adopted children. We have Worship Services each Sunday at 10:30 AM. We love visitors and seekers of God.
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
(John 11:25-26 KJV)
The Apostle John wrote the above Holy Scripture with the help of Our Awesome God. In all five of the Books of the Bible that he wrote, and were later included in the King James Holy Bible, his words emphasized that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God, sent by the Father to take away the sins of the world. John often referred to himself as "the disciple Jesus loved".
Before becoming disciples, he and his brother, James were fishermen and were among the first called by Jesus. John, James, and Peter were the inner circle around Jesus during His ministry on earth. John, though the youngest, was honored to be with Jesus along with James and Peter at the time when Jairus' daughter was brought back from the dead, during the transfiguration on the mountain top and as witnesses to the agony of Jesus at Gethsemane.
John knew Joseph Caiaphas which made him able to attend Jesus' trial at the high priest's house. He was the only one of the twelve apostles who was present at the cross. John knew Jesus and his love for Jesus helped make him fearless as he later proclaimed the gospel after Jesus' death. He became an elder in the early church and assisted in spreading the gospel message. After Pentecost, John joined Peter to fearlessly preach the gospel in Jerusalem where he suffered beatings and imprisonment for it.
John worked in the church in Jerusalem for years, then he went to work in the church at Ephesus. A legend says that John, during a persecution, was taken to Rome in chains and thrown into a pot of boiling oil but emerged unhurt. That was before he was exiled to the island of Patmos where he wrote the Book of Revelation. John easily outlived all of the apostles and is reported to have died of old age at Ephesus about A.D. 98.
The love John had for Jesus Christ is an inspiration for all Christians. Are we as loving and faithful to Him as John was? Will we continue to serve Jesus Christ and spread His gospel to our world? Learn more about our Christian beliefs and Our Awesome God through the Holy Bible and preaching of that Bible.

"I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart."
(Psalms 40:8 KJV)
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name."
(Luke 10:17 KJV)
All of our life is affected by how we Christians relate joy, happiness, and pleasure to both our discipleship and our relationship with Our Awesome God through Jesus Christ. How do you tell and show others that you are really enjoying your work for the Lord?
From the things they said, the disciples experience at evangelism far surpassed their expectations. They came back filled with rejoicing. When they said, “even the devils are subject unto us,” it would seem that their ability to cast out demons was far better than they had expected. They were happy to see this happen as they had trouble before. After all, the nine apostles had been unable to cast the demon out of the boy back in Luke 9:37-41. That they were able to cast out demons was proof to the disciples that they had great authority in Jesus' name. They had something to rejoice for in service to Jesus Christ because they saw proof that they could help. They told others what Our Awesome God had allowed them to do. But they were specially trained by Jesus Christ.
All who serve the Lord know that Our Awesome God does not always make battles easy for us to fight and, like Joshua, Paul or the disciples, He doesn't always go physically before us,. But how many problems does He get rid of that we never knew were there? And He will always help if you ask Him. When we do something that we can see has helped His cause, we should rejoice because we will probably only see a small portion of the good that Our Awesome God does with the service we perform.
We should show and tell others of the joy we get from serving the Lord. Don't be bragging about your accomplishments - brag instead on the Lord. He did it! You just supplied the hands! Find joy in serving Him every day!
We Christians should show our joy, happiness, and pleasure in serving and in our relationship with Our Awesome God through Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God, or someone who has never been a Christian, or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for Worship Service. At 6:00 PM we have a Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
