"In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel,(became governor of Judah during the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem) my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts."
(Haggai 2:23 KJV)
Our Awesome God has a purpose in all He does and He carefully chooses who He will use to further His purposes. The first one we know of called by God was Abram (Genesis 12:1-3) when at the age of 75 years with no children, he was told to go to a land God would show him and God would make a "great nation" of his children.
This man wandered through and around Caanan for 100 years while God prepared him and the situation for the children of his new name, Abraham. He increased his faith, his patience and learned to trust God completely. He was God's choice.
Reuben was Jacob's oldest son and he should have inherited the covenant, but instead, God chose Judah. Now, Reuben sinned (Genesis 49:3-4) but so did Judah. However, Our Awesome God was obviously looking at the hearts of these men. He might have wanted them to be teachable, to listen when He spoke, be obedient, to love Him and to be softhearted. Judah was God's choice (Genesis 49:8-10).
Daniel, once a prince of Judah, was taken captive to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar and there he served God in several ways. But why him? There were many captives from Judah that God could have used but this man interpreted dreams for God, ruled seven years for Nebuchadnezzar, prayed and worshipped Our Awesome God, etc. (Daniel 19:2). Daniel was God's choice. He saw his heart and knew he was the one who would best do the job He wanted done.
Zerubbabel is the only person in the Bible that God told, "I have chosen you." (Haggai 2:23) He had been made governor of Judah during the reconstruction of the temple and the walls of Jerusalem. To learn more about Zerubbabel, read the Book in the Bible: Haggai.
God is still looking for people who have the characteristics He is looking for; teachable, softhearted, listens, and is obedient to Our Awesome God. Are you one of His children? Do you have the characteristics He needs in a leader? Because He will supply the strength, wisdom and anything else you need to get the job done.
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth."
(Genesis 9:1 KJV)
"And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited;..."
(Exodus 16:35 KJV)
Although there are several cities that predate 3800 BC, most of the history before 2300 BC involved three major ways of life that people followed: city life, nomadic herding and farming. The actual family life in each of these settings was slightly different but the overall work of the men, women and children remained about the same. The gender and age made a difference in what people were allowed to do. Our Awesome God slowly used each of these three groups of people and their ages to develop Families.
By the time of Moses, the nomadic herding Family would have had the men hunting, killing animals in the wild and from the herds to eat, occasionally herding (camels, horses, sheep and goats, cows and oxen, etc), practicing warfare, worshipping, teaching the boys old enough to work with them and governing their Families.
The women of this time would have cooked, gathered food except for meat, woven the fleece into rugs and blankets, laundered the clothes and put them away, cleaned the tent, and taken care of the children not working. They also taught the girls old enough to work, bathed themselves, bathed the children and, when possible, provided water for the men's baths and for eating and drinking purposes.
The children of Moses' time started with simple tasks around the tent of their mother, with her guidance, until they were about 5-9 years of age and could start working with their father if they were boys or more complicated things with their mother if they were girls. Eventually, the children learned what the adults knew from herding techniques to laundry to how to worship Our Awesome God. The Family was a close interdependent group who usually learned to work well together.
The Family was the place of learning to socialize, to work together, to depend on others as well as themselves and to worship Our Awesome God if they were part of Moses' Exodus. God fed them so they didn't need to kill their animals except to sacrifice them to God. He created the family so we would learn to work and depend on others as we saw, heard and experienced life.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sundays at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for the Praise and Worship Service. From 6:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday evening, we have a Bible Study and AWANA for children extending until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."
(Romans 8:14-15 KJV)
When we are adopted into the family of Our Awesome God, we have certain responsibilities that are a must in order to feel comfortable and be accepted as the King's child. They include, at least, the following:
1) The children of the King should strive to live by the Words found in His Holy Bible (Luke 4:4).
2) The children of the King are led by the Holy Spirit and God's Bible (Romans 8:14).
3) The children of the King have access to God through prayers (Matthew 21:22)
4) The children of the King are adopted sons and heirs to God's kingdom (Romans 8:17).
When we are children of the King, we should act as such, think as Christians should and live as Our Awesome God would want us to live. Are you living like you belong to Jesus? I hope so. Are you passionate about what He is passionate about? Your life should be going the way our Lord would want it to. Is His purpose your purpose, are you letting Him lead your life? Prayer should be at least three times a day, but to be really involved with Our Awesome God you need to talk to Him and get to know Him well. He is your Father, your King!
We, as "heirs" and "adopted sons," need to know Him and His kingdom well. You can't direct others as Our Awesome God would want if you don't know what He wants and what His purpose is. You will direct a part of His kingdom in some manner, if you are a Christian. So learn all you can about Him. He has a purpose for your life on earth and part of it is to learn all about Him and His ways so that you can help Jesus Christ. This will be for eternity with Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord, there is always something new to learn and do.
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others to a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we love others while preaching and teaching from our Holy Bible about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our church has a Bible Study at 9:30 AM on Sunday and Worship Service at 10:30 AM and then from 6:00 to 7:00 PM there is another Bible Study along with a children's program called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM. We love visitors!
"If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in you safely."
(Leviticus 26:3, 5 KJV)
If we could just focus our lives on Jesus Christ and keep all Our Awesome God's commandments, we would never be hungry but would meet the threshers as we planted the next crop to eat. The children in Africa would not be starving and we would know food was everywhere. God promised this but we couldn't stay away from sin and what it does. So we have Poor People! So we have awful starvation! We have terrorists! We have death!
It gets harder and harder to find neighborhoods anywhere on earth that are free from robberies, murders and drugs. This is what we want for our children so that they aren't threatened and that their peers aren't liars, thieves, alcoholics, drug addicts, or worse. Our Awesome God wants His children to live free of all the problems we now have to face in our lives but, for now, He has promised to help us and protect us through them.
However, we have a new world coming free of sin and all the problems that our sinning has created. (Revelation 21:1-4) Can you imagine how wonderful this place will be? Nothing to worry about or cause you problems! No more liars! No more murders or drugs! Just blessings!
God wants you to focus on Him and getting sin out of your life, but He knows that it is impossible for you to avoid all sin as long as you live in this old world. What you can do is study your Bible and know His law so you will know when you have sinned. Then you can confess your sin and claim Our Awesome God’s promise of forgiveness and cleansing. (1 John 1:9) We need to start in our own lives then help our children along the same path to righteousness. As Our Awesome God becomes the focus of your life, you will find a weight lifting from your shoulders and a feeling of freedom infecting your lives. God wants our lives to be happy and filled with purpose, not burdened with sin and dejection. Only Christians will find this new home called Heaven with enough to eat for everyone.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that can show you how to become a Christian and tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Praise/Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
