"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
(Acts 17:11 KJV)
"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"
(1 Peter 2:21 KJV)
In the Christian walk through life and toward heaven, we must first have accepted Christ as our Savior, repenting of our sins and agreed to obey Him. Once we have become a Christian it is time to start growing in our knowledge and belief in Our Awesome God and His Son, Jesus Christ. All of us want to grow up and most of us know that if we don't grow we will eventually stagnate. So it is essential to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. However, just growing for the sake of growing is not the intention of God. God expects our growth to lead us to more Christ-like living.
Over the last two years, the articles written on this web page have been intended to help us to grow toward maturity in Christ and that idea will continue in 2016. We need to know the way to increase our growth so here are ways to grow. 1) We Must Study God's Word so that we can recognize His Word when we hear it. Read James 1:18-28. 2) We Must Pray - so that we are talking to Him, and listening for His answers and getting to understand Him better. Read Matthew 26:31-75. 3) We Must Fellowship with Other Christians so that we understand what they have learned, adding it to our own knowledge. Read I Corinthians 12:12-27. 4) We Must Witness for Christ - so that we realize what we believe and why. Read Acts 26:12-29. 5) We Must Obey God - so that we realize that obedience to Our Awesome God brings God's awesome power and knowledge to take the right course of action to correct a problem. Read Romans 6:14-23.
Our growth to maturity will never be complete until we reach heaven, but we need a church that is teaching and moving toward maturity for us to grow, for otherwise we stagnate. It is hard to know what Our Awesome God wants us to do to further His Kingdom so we must keep in close contact with Him and His Holy Word, spreading His Word and watch how others are being successful. But always preaching and teaching from His Holy Bible.
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA extending to 7:30 PM. There are plans for more during the week of Bible Discussions in homes. Prayer meeting is on Wednesday. We love visitors!
"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
(Matthew 5:3 KJV)
It is important that we have a good working knowledge of the word DENIAL. Celebrate Recovery, a Christian based program, has a small guide book that uses this definition: "a false system of beliefs that are not based on reality; self-protecting behavior that keeps us from honestly facing the truth." If we keep this in mind and we revue what we have done, thought and/or said, can we honestly say we are always aware of the truth. Are we honest with others and ourselves? Before we can start getting rid of our defective character traits, we must admit, realize and face our denial of them. We know we aren't happy with them and Our Awesome God is not pleased with them. In fact, we are getting uncomfortable because we can't control or manage them all the time.
We need to get rid of our denial because energy is lost and it disables our feelings, it negates growth, it isolates us from Our Awesome God, it alienates us from our relationships and it lengthens the pain. This is all explained in the Celebrate Recovery program and how to use the Beatitudes for the principles of recovery from your hurts, hang-ups and habits with God's help. But we all have our character defects that we need to get rid of.
In order to start recovery, we must realize we are not Our Awesome God. We must admit that alone, we are powerless to control our tendency to do the wrong thing and that our life is unmanageable. "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not." (Romans 7:18 KJV). Once we realize this truth and that we need help from others who will hold us accountable and have Jesus Christ helping us, we are ready to start on our road to recovery.
Come join us at our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ, died for you and took your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. This gives you your chance to join a program like Celebrate Recovery and get rid of those hurts, hang-ups and habits which are sins and keeping you from maturing as Christians. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM.
