"For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye... So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."
(Deuteronomy 32:9 -10, 12 KJV)
Jacob had many difficulties, often of his own making, as recorded in Genesis chapters 27 to 37. But he was faithful to Our Awesome God, who had chosen him to become the father of His chosen people and protected him and helped him overcome all of his difficulties.
Our Awesome God is also our parent. In order to teach us a necessary truth, He will lead us to the problem and push us into solving it. We forget He is right there watching and, if we ask, He will help us. We may not realize that when we, with His help, have solved the problem, we will possess an inexplicable power and confidence that we can acquire only through doing it with His help.
God may take away your comfortable life and privileges so that you will be a stronger Christian. He may be pushing you to learn how to handle certain difficulties, to realize your strengths and weaknesses in a situation and to remember that, when Our Awesome God puts you in a difficult position, He will be there to rescue you if needed. But some things in life have to be experienced so that you will have a stronger faith in God and the knowledge of what is at least a good way out that honors God.
We often say that we are having difficulties or even that Satan is bothering us but it may just be Our Awesome God making us more mature Christians. He loves us and wants us able to handle most situations, as any father would. He has a purpose and a job for you to do in life as well as in heaven. Are you confident that God and you can handle any difficulty?
If you are not confident that Our Awesome God and you can handle all your difficulties then get ready for more testing. Most of the human race needs many problems to teach him or her to solve problems in God's way: asking our Lord to help. Praise the Lord for difficulties!
Becoming confident and trusting in Our Lord needs to start with your becoming a Christian if you aren't. Then check the Bible to realize all the laws you have broken and that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man to save you from having to pay for breaking those laws. A Christian is just a saved sinner. Become a Christian by repenting of those sins and accepting Our Awesome God's gift of life.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard."
(Leviticus 25:4 KJV)
Our Awesome God set up a beautiful way for the land to rest, for Hebrew slaves to be set free (Deuteronomy 15:12-18), for debts to be canceled (Deuteronomy 15:1-11) and just for people to take a look at what they had done the last 6 years as they rested. This was a sabbatical seventh year that they could put changes in order for the next 6 years. This rest also increased the fertility of the land. But did they use that seventh year as the Lord had commanded? It probably was forgotten, as were other of their good intentions.
When we look at our busy life with something to do every minute, we realize we could use a seventh year to rest and take a look at what we have done the last 6 years. There are demands of family, church and work that might need a change. Think about that 7th year to rest and prayerfully refocus our lives to increase Our Awesome God's glory. What changes could we make to improve the next 6 years? Can we do it with God's help in a year? Couldn't we find time, even a week, to rest and look at changes that we should make to be more productive for our Lord?
Our Awesome God wants you to rest and reevaluate what you have done and what you should change to make it better. This rest and prayer makes you realize the good things you have done with God's help, as well as how to change others and make them better. Our God is good!
Our Awesome God wants you look back over the past 6 years, rest (even for a week) and, with His help, see what changes need to be made in your life. Praise the Lord!
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM and at 6:00 to 7:00 PM for Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."
(Deuteronomy 32:11-12 KJV)
Sometimes Our Awesome God reminds us of a parent bird, eager to show us what we can do. He takes us to a cliff and pushes us off into air so we can learn to "fly" by ourselves and He is there to catch us. If we were truly birds, we would already "know" by instinct how to move our "wings" and fly. Though we are not birds, God often pushes us into places we have never been so that we learn how to cope and gradually do better and better at the job while He waits to swoop in and rescue us if we need it. When Our Awesome God brings you into a perilous place, He is always there to rescue you and instruct you when you ask and trust Him.
Do you understand as a Christian that Our Awesome God may take away your feelings of comfort and your privileges in order to make you a stronger Christian? Do you see that God instructs His soldiers and children by not allowing them to lie at ease in bed but to go on difficult marches and service for Him? He makes them wade through streams, swim across rivers, climb steep mountains and walk long marches carrying their backpacks of sorrows. (But God will carry your sorrows if you ask Him.) This is how God develops and instructs soldiers and His children for His service. He knows that just dressing them up in proper clothes and giving them authority is not enough to make them strong, knowledgeable and wise in their jobs. It takes experience and action with instruction to make them ready to become His world leaders for Him.
Would this explain the situation you are in? Could Our Awesome God be uncovering your gifts and causing them to grow? Is He developing in you the qualities He needs in a leader? Are you ready for service with Our Awesome God? Learn the Bible and to pray to Him for help when you need it. Come join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we learn what God wants to teach us ---to fly His way in the job He has for you.

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."
(Jeremiah 23:5, 6 KJV)
Jehovah-Tsidkenu means "The Lord Our Righteousness." He is straight, stiff and balanced as if on scales. He is full weight with justice and righteousness to declare innocence of any or all and He is always right.
A question we might ask ourselves is "what exactly is righteousness?” We can describe righteousness as being morally right, blameless, guiltless, holy, innocent, just or sinless. But none of us would use these adjectives to describe ourselves, yet each one of these words describes Our Awesome God and all His actions. Even in His judgment of Israel, God had a plan to restore them to Himself. He will always do what is right on our behalf because of His righteousness and His great love for us. It says in Deuteronomy 32:4, “He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He”.
Jehovah-Tsidkenu, then, is and will be a wonderful judge, dispensing decisions that are strict enough without being too strict and, unlike our present judges, He will know if that person really did what he/she is accused of and why they did it. He will not take bribes or be forced into doing something wrong. He is Our Awesome God. He will know what is right for each person and sin, and He will pass sentence accordingly.
Won't it be wonderful to be judged by someone who knows the truth without any of the evidence, found or not. Our Awesome God doesn't need any evidence to know what was done and who is guilty. And we Christians will truly be free of our sinful natures and be made morally right, blameless, guiltless, holy, innocent, just and sinless. Praise the LORD!. We Christians will WIN! Know the BIBLE and Our Awesome God.
Join us at LWBC every Sunday at 9:30 AM, we have small group Bible Studies and at 10:30 AM, we meet in the sanctuary for Worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have Bible Study along with AWANA for children (September through May) until 7:30 PM. Our programs include Home Bible Studies and a Wednesday Prayer Meeting but are varied as we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible. We love visitors and practice the "love one another" commandment to all.
"For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land."
(Deuteronomy 15:11 KJV)
You have seen the man on the street corner who has a sign about needing money. Every city has its poor, it's needy, those who need help. It's hard to know who really needs help and who is really just lazy but Our Awesome God knows.
One organization for the poor tells me that, "more than one-half of the world's people live below the internationally defined poverty line of less than $2.00 a day." Poverty and need are such a large part of our world that it is easy to feel helpless and depressed, or even to become hard-hearted to their plight.
Our Awesome God knows about the poor and He doesn't close His eyes or walk to the other side of the street. Our Awesome God gave us instructions on living and caring for the poor and needy of this world in Deuteronomy 15:11.
"But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth… For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land".
(Deuteronomy 15:8,11 KJV)
As followers of Our Awesome God, we cannot ignore the plight of the poor and needy. We need some Christian organization to help us discern who is really needy and who is a professional beggar. We as Christians can join Christian organizations and churches that can and do check the individuals for their need and help combat poverty by giving as God intends us to. God knows who needs our help and if we are helping or crossing to the other side of the street. Join us in fighting poverty by helping. Read your Bible and pray, for you want to help your brother not teach him that the world owes him a living. God knows who the professional beggar without real need is.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study. We have Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM and Sunday evening Bible Study at 6:00 PM with a children's program, from September to May, called AWANA until 7:30 PM. Our programs are varied but we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste."
(Deuteronomy 32:35 KJV)
Calamity/Disaster is any great misfortune, or cause of misery; generally applied to events or disasters which produce extensive evils, as loss of crops, earthquakes, conflagrations, defeat of armies, and the like. But it is applied also to the misfortunes, which bring great distress upon individuals. The results of calamities or disasters are rarely good most think. (KJV Dictionary).
Calamities or disasters are not something you look forward to getting. But the question we must ask is, what does Our Awesome God say about these calamities or disasters? And Jesus has not left us in the dark when it comes to the issue of why things like terrorist attacks and natural disasters occur. In Luke 13:1, some people brought news to Jesus that Pilate had slaughtered some Galilean worshipers with their sacrifices. Not only did they bring news, but they also had an opinion on the news. They did not state their opinion, but Jesus revealed their thoughts when He answered them in Luke 13:2, "…Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things?" Jesus responded further saying, "...Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall likewise perish." (Luke 13:3 KJV) In other words, Jesus told the people: You need to change the way you think. You have no right to say that this calamity or disaster was a commentary on the lives of the Galileans; instead, this calamity is a message for everyone. If you don’t repent, then you’ll perish like them.
Jesus knew that the people believed that the tragic massacre was a direct result of some great sin of the Galileans. This kind of thinking was not new. Job’s friends accused him of some secret sin, since he was suffering. Jesus’ disciples inquired about a blind man in John 9:2 KJV, "…Who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" This kind of thinking makes people today to say that a tornado or a hurricane happened at a particular place and time because of a particular lifestyle or sin. Our Awesome God often uses calamities or disasters to tell or warn us that if we don't repent of our sins then we will suffer as the people in the calamity did. It is a warning! We don't always know about other people but we know about our own sins and if we need to repent, that is what we should think of first not what others may or may not have done.
Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a September through May program for children called AWANA. We have a Prayer Meeting that meets at 7:00 PM On Wednesday. Learn with us how to use and invest your time with wisdom for Our Awesome God!
"Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts".
(Jeremiah 2:19 KJV)
Backsliding is a “condition that results from spiritual apathy or disregard for the things of God, whether on the part of an individual or a group bound by a prior covenantal pledge of commitment to uphold the doctrine and commandments of the Lord. Backsliding includes departure from a good confession of faith and from the ethical standards prescribed for God's people in the Scriptures.” http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionaries/bakers-evangelical-dictionary/backsliding.html
It is important to realize that backsliding is done by the believer and often by the faithful follower of Our Awesome God. Unsaved person cannot do it because they don't believe in Jesus Christ. No Christian is immune to this "disease" but some find backsliding easier to do than others. So as Christians we should know some of the symptoms of backsliding which are found in the following Scriptures.
1. The Focus of Your Heart Changes from the Things of God to the Things of the World. (Deuteronomy 1:27-36 / I Kings 11:1-4).
2. You Become More Concerned About Yourself rather Than the Things of God such as Worship, Service to God, etc. (John 6:26/ Philippians 2:4,21).
When either of these symptoms are seen or felt, the Christian should start looking for others. In fact, every Christian should examine themselves three times a year at least for signs of backsliding. If you find either symptom mentioned, 1) you should actively seek the things that are of Our Awesome God and 2) pray until you can "feel" God or hear Him. 3) Ask God to reveal Himself to you and bring to your mind any sin you might have committed. 4) Rearrange what you have been doing and include what the Lord has revealed to you. Keep working in this manner until Our Awesome God tells you the problem. God will reveal it, if you are persistent and continue looking at your backsliding. You are a child of the King!
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM) Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children, which goes until 7:30 PM, and Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for Prayer Meeting. When you come, ask about the home Bible studies during the week and the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
