"In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel,(became governor of Judah during the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem) my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts."
(Haggai 2:23 KJV)
Our Awesome God has a purpose in all He does and He carefully chooses who He will use to further His purposes. The first one we know of called by God was Abram (Genesis 12:1-3) when at the age of 75 years with no children, he was told to go to a land God would show him and God would make a "great nation" of his children.
This man wandered through and around Caanan for 100 years while God prepared him and the situation for the children of his new name, Abraham. He increased his faith, his patience and learned to trust God completely. He was God's choice.
Reuben was Jacob's oldest son and he should have inherited the covenant, but instead, God chose Judah. Now, Reuben sinned (Genesis 49:3-4) but so did Judah. However, Our Awesome God was obviously looking at the hearts of these men. He might have wanted them to be teachable, to listen when He spoke, be obedient, to love Him and to be softhearted. Judah was God's choice (Genesis 49:8-10).
Daniel, once a prince of Judah, was taken captive to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar and there he served God in several ways. But why him? There were many captives from Judah that God could have used but this man interpreted dreams for God, ruled seven years for Nebuchadnezzar, prayed and worshipped Our Awesome God, etc. (Daniel 19:2). Daniel was God's choice. He saw his heart and knew he was the one who would best do the job He wanted done.
Zerubbabel is the only person in the Bible that God told, "I have chosen you." (Haggai 2:23) He had been made governor of Judah during the reconstruction of the temple and the walls of Jerusalem. To learn more about Zerubbabel, read the Book in the Bible: Haggai.
God is still looking for people who have the characteristics He is looking for; teachable, softhearted, listens, and is obedient to Our Awesome God. Are you one of His children? Do you have the characteristics He needs in a leader? Because He will supply the strength, wisdom and anything else you need to get the job done.
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
(Isaiah 55:6-9 KJV)
Let's begin by stating that transcendence is the aspect of God's nature and power that is completely independent of the material universe and beyond all of its physical laws. We often contrast it with the immanence that says God is completely present in the physical world which makes Him accessible to man in various ways. Both are characteristics of Our Awesome God. Having both characteristics, God is able to communicate through prayer, "dreams" and "visions," and even make Balaam's donkey to "talk".
By now you should realize that Our Awesome God is completely free of creation. Our finite minds and experiences make it very hard to define and grasp who He is and what He can do because God is in all things around us but cannot be equated with all things.
Our Awesome God is a spirit because He is not made up of matter nor does He possess a physical nature as we and the things around us do. He is free to do whatever He wants. He is only restricted by His perfection and His laws of judgment. He is our example of perfection and true judgment.
How can our perfect God co-exist with evil? God has allowed evil because without it there can be no recognition of God's perfect holiness and God's perfect love. He has allowed it to show more of His character for mankind. He loves His creations and wants them to love Him.
When we say God is transcendent, we mean that He is separate from His creation and not dependent on the created order in any way. Our Awesome God made the universe and He is therefore its sovereign ruler (Gen. 1:1). He has given us certain characteristics and knowledge, and allowed us to use them for good or evil. So, depending on the choices we make, we can live forever, in heaven with Him or in hell if we reject His salvation.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children, which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). "And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah."
(Genesis 20:2 KJV)
Abimelech was the common name for Philistine kings, as “Pharaoh” was of the Egyptian kings. It means, "My father is king". This was the name of five biblical men mentioned in the Bible but we are going to look at the one who knew Abraham.
The Philistine king of Gerar in the time of Abraham was Abimelech (Gen. 20:1-18). Abimelech, took Sarah after asking Abraham who she was and Abraham said she was his sister. Sarah was put into the harem. That night, God invaded Abimelech's dream and told him that Sarah was a wife, that to take her would mean death to Abimelech and his people. Sarah was delivered from his harem, and was restored to her husband, Abraham. As a mark of respect, he gave Abraham valuable gifts, and offered him a settlement in any part of his country; while at the same time he delicately, and yet severely, rebuked him for having practiced a deception upon him in pretending that Sarah was only his sister.
This King of Gerar apparently knew something about Our Awesome God. What Abimelech knew about God we may never know but we do know that God had a purpose in sending Abraham, this "man of faith," to visit Abimelech. Could the purpose have been to increase the faith of Abimelach or even Abraham? This was the second time Abraham had lied about Sarah being his wife. God tests His people. And that’s exactly what He was doing with Abraham. God wanted to create a man of great faith - and so he put Abraham into situations where he would be tempted to use worldly solutions to solve painful problems. Each time Abraham failed. But he learned that God was worthy of his trust. His faith and love in Our Awesome God became greater.
We shouldn’t fear times of testing because it’s in these times of difficulty that we grow in our love and faith. And each time we succeed in passing the test, God seeks to reward us and encourage us for our faithfulness. Our Awesome God will test us even as He did Abraham and gave him a way out (the dream). Learn more about our God by reading His Holy Bible and praying. Your faith will grow since God is always faithful. God is blessing you!
Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and 10:30 AM for worship Service. Then again at 6:00 PM for Bible Study. "And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne… And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold."
(Revelation 4:2, 4 KJV)
The above scripture from the Holy Bible is part of what the apostle John saw when he was shown the throne room in heaven with God and attendant saints. All of chapter 4 of the Book of Revelation, Our Awesome God's Holy Word, is about heaven and those in it. Is this what you see when you think or dream of heaven? This description is beautiful and accurate. But heaven must be full of warmth and good feelings everywhere. These feelings and this warmth must surround every being that goes there. The physical beauty of heaven might lose its appeal but this warm "fuzzy" feeling will last and thrill you forever.
If you are a Christian and love Our Awesome God, this beautiful wonderful place with a house for each of us, streets of gold, light everywhere, rivers of beautiful clear water and most of all, no disputes, no bad words, no wars and the perfect love that surrounds us all. The conversation will interest you and the knowledge will overwhelm you. You will belong and feel at home with everyone, because you are home!
Our Awesome God has something spectacular in His home that He calls heaven and is willing to make us a new heaven, He says in Revelation. Part of this "warm fuzzy feeling" will include the feeling of belonging here in this wonderful place, of understanding what God intends with each object and living thing in this place, and of understanding what others are feeling during these times. Heaven will be wonderful because we will all have a purpose for being there. AWESOME! INDESCRIBABLE!
Join Our Awesome God's Christians in this wonderful heaven. You can even decide in your mind what heaven will mean for you and what will be there for you. Heaven will be better than you can imagine since there is nothing on earth as awesome as heaven. Accept Jesus Christ, God's son, into your life, believing He died to save you from your sins, and rose on the third day to sit on His throne next to God. Then obey God' s laws. Join us in heaven!
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior.
