"And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
(Luke 22:31-32 KJV)
Testing of a person by Our Awesome God is usually done through their faith. We feel the testing of our faith as more acute when it involves us feeling alone with the problem. The feeling of being deserted by everyone will make you feel as a soldier would if all his weapons were removed and he was asked to wipe out a tank. Alone!
Paul wrote, "I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7) but they cut off his head not long after. His faith was still there. There were three things he rejoiced in having done: 1) "having fought the good fight", 2) "having finished the race" and he had, 3) "kept the faith". Paul's faith had been tested multiple times, making his faith stronger, and he passed as he joined Jesus in heaven. May our faith be as strong when our testing occurs. May we remember that we are never alone even when we are wrong we can always ask Our Awesome God to come be with us, and He will, testing us and strengthening us to teach us to lean on our Lord as we spread God's message to all.
Like Paul, we need to keep trying so we can finish "the race" and keep "the faith" so that we can wear that crown like Paul will wear. So that we can test and strengthen our faith and know that we can do it because, having the faith, we believe. Our Awesome God may be testing us so we will know how much faith we have. We need to remember that the most important thing we can do is have faith in Our Awesome God and keep that faith strong. So if testing will strengthen that faith then let us be glad He is testing us, for the time will come when we will need a strong faith like Paul.
Faith is "an unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence". Our Awesome God is a reality to me. He is in my heart and helps me daily, testing me as I go through , increasing my faith and knowledge of my Father God. You develop by testing and pushing yourself to your limit in anything to get better at it. God helps you to do the same.
Come join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story of love and salvation. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM. We have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study that meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
"And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."
(Isaiah 30:21 KJV)
We know that under Our Awesome God all things can happen. But do we know why He doesn't just do it as He did when He created this world? God can do whatever He wants. This is only an assumption but many verses in scripture give us the impression that He does all things with a purpose (Isaiah 14:26-27, Romans 8:28, Ephesians 1:11)
Why did Our Awesome God create man when He had angels? (Genesis 3:24) He wanted companionship, something to not just agree with Him but to know the details of why? Angels had a choice of going with Satan or staying with God. Once that choice was made by them there was no changing it. We don't know how long angels have existed and we don' know how their choices were made. But there are groups of angels which do certain things now and have a purpose or job. (Luke 2:13-14) We are different than angels.
Humans fight to keep control of life in their hands, not wanting to admit it was never in their hands but in Our Awesome God's hands. We know that something or someone much more intelligent than we are had to have been responsible for the world and all the things that make up our lives. We need a purpose in life or we wander around sticking our heads into all sorts of problems and wasting our lives. But we find no purpose, no reason to be on earth if we don't acknowledge God.
We need the knowledge that someone with complete wisdom and knowledge is in charge... Our Awesome God who created us. Then we can relax and let our blood pressure go down while we take time to really “enjoy the roses.” This "feeling" of Someone Else in charge gives us relief from carrying, not just the load of managing our lives, but our purpose here on earth. We are "free" to relax and give Our Awesome God control of everything! God is in control of all things. Praise the Lord! Amen!
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others and reminding ourselves about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. There is a Prayer meeting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday and plans for more Bible Discussions in homes during the week. We love visitors!
