"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."
(2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV)
This was an appeal for fellow workers in the Lord to reconcile with the Lord. But reconciliation is an absolute. You are either reconciled or you are not, there is no middle ground. To be reconciled, there must first be absolute agreement on what is important. Then there must be complete and total agreement on every detail of what is important. Our Awesome God has told us what is important to Him and given us the details in His Holy Bible. So what has to happen for us to become reconciled? God is sovereign and He doesn’t change so we have to bring ourselves into agreement with Him. For example, God says that marriage is between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:23-24, Leviticus 18:22). If you do not fully agree, you are not reconciled with God. So every sin in God’s Bible can prevent reconciliation. Just being reconciled and agreeing with God doesn’t keep us from sinning but it helps us to recognize that we have sinned and need to seek forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
Our churches and their doctrine also need to reconcile with God. Perhaps one barrier is the failure to preach the gospel of Christ from the pulpit (Mark 16:15). Many churches have turned their focus to social reform and local issues when the focus should stay on Our Awesome God and His basic message: that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin.
We all need to preach what is really in that Bible with conviction in our voice, hearts and minds. Our Awesome God wants man to get HIS message, not ours. When God's message is preached with no additions or subtractions, whether it is by voice or printed word, then reconciliation can start. But reconciliation is not always obedience. We need to be ready and prepared to change the way we live, think and act. It would be awesome to see a real revival in our time, where people were so inspired and filled with the Holy Spirit that they forgot how sophisticated they think they are. We all need an infusion of Jesus Christ!
We should read Our Awesome God's Holy Bible and hear His Word preached while we repent of our sinning. That is a given. But you need to know the real God and, to be reconciled to Him, you need to know Him well. Find a church where His Word is preached and people encourage others while loving all those around them. Our God wants us to reconcile with, to come back to, Him. He has a wonderful eternal home waiting for you, His child. Come Home!
Our church, LWBC, starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA lasting until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all!
"Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel."
(Nehemiah 3:1 KJV)
According to Our Awesome God's Holy Bible, the first gate to be rebuilt in Jerusalem in Nehemiah's time was the Sheep Gate and it was built by the priests led by one whose name means "God restores." It was located near the Temple Mount and the road to Bethany. The Physical Significance is that this was the gate the sheep came in to be sacrifice in the Temple after being bought in the nearby sheep markets. The Spiritual Significance is that everything begins for man with the blood offering of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) for forgiveness of our sins, redemption and eternal life. So the High Priest (Jesus Christ) had to bring them in through the Gate he had set.
The Fish Gate's Physical Significance is that it is an ancient gate where the men sold their fish. The Spiritual Significance is that the Fish Gate represents the preaching of the gospel and the fishing for men to enter for Our Awesome God's kingdom.
The third gate is the Old Gate with its Physical Significance being that it was where the elders would meet to discuss important matters and to give their judgment on disputes. The Spiritual Significance is that the "old man" must die when you become a Christian so that you can put on the "new man" free from sin. So the Old Gate reminds us that the sinful man must die so the sin free man may live.
The Dung Gate led to the valley of Hinnom and was used for the removal of trash, garbage and dung from Jerusalem to keep the city clean and from smelling. The Physical Significance is that the fire from the burning refuse never went out in the Hinnom Valley. The Spiritual Significance is that when we are saved we become a new creation in Christ, an adopted child of God and must get rid of the "dung" from our old life to fully experience the glory of Christ.
Our Awesome God has used the gates of His city to remind us of what we should be doing. He knows what we need and gives us reminders. He does things perfectly!
LWBC is a loving church that tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church in the Sanctuary this coming Sunday at 10:30 AM. We have Bible Study on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Sunday evening at 6:00 PM our Bible Study starts at the same time as AWANA, a children's program which goes until 7:30 PM. We teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi."
(Genesis 29:34 KJV)
Levi was the third son of Jacob and Leah from Our Awesome God's chosen people. Leah was still concerned about getting Jacob to love her so the Scripture above tells some of her words, but her father had tricked Jacob when they were married and Jacob probably never loved her. Levi, with his brother, Simeon, killed a man and all his relatives who lived close when they got angry over the rape of their sister, Dinah. Jacob said they made him "stink" when he described it in Genesis 34:30.
From Levi, Jacob's third son, came the Levites who were dedicated to Our Awesome God's service. As such, they were later not treated as the other tribes in that the Tribe of Levi was not given a separate allotment of land during the conquest of Canaan, when the nation of Israel was first established. Moses had singled out the Tribe of Levi to serve as the nation's priests. This tribe served all positions in the temple from the High Priest, to musicians, to cleaning the instruments of the tabernacle, to lighting of incense (Luke 1:9) until the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. As priests to the nation, the Levites needed to be distributed among the other tribes rather than confined to a single territory.
Instead of a land allotment, Joshua, who led the conquest of Canaan, gave 48 towns, scattered throughout the land of Israel, to the Tribe of Levi. The descendants of Levi played a role in guarding and serving the tabernacle (Numbers 3:21-37) and later on in the temple at Jerusalem.
Our Awesome God established the tribe of Levi as the principal agents for communication with God in the nation of Israel. They were to lead the nation to be a kingdom of priests (Exodus 19:6) in teaching the rest of the world about God. Instead, for 1500 years they made access to Our Awesome God so difficult that few would even attempt it. He didn't really give up on them, but God also gave the Gentiles the chance to become His adopted sons through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. You can become a son of Our Awesome God who loves you and knows your many sins as He does my sins. If God can forgive the many sins of the Tribe of Levi, He can forgive your sins.
We invite you to our church services for Our Awesome God on Sunday mornings (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM). Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children which goes until 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) we have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with the Youth Group. When you come, ask about the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors!
"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
(Titus 2:14 KJV)
We have trouble comprehending the complete forgiveness of God. He is awesome and large enough to encompass all the universes which He created, so God is able to forgive you. We often make Our Awesome God too small. But repentance is the key to being forgiven. Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
If you can confess it to Our Awesome God, you can be forgiven of it! It doesn't matter what you've done, if you turn to God, confess your sins and repent, He will forgive you of ALL unrighteousness... that includes anything you've done. It is important that you confess them to God! 1 John 1:9 (KJV) states, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Do you know that Christ's death on the cross demonstrated Our Awesome God's great and deep love for you? That's right! Romans 5:8 (KJV) says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Christ's death on the cross was not just a demonstration of Our Awesome God's love for 'good people', but for all those who have lived or will live in the world! John 3:16(KJV) states, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." He wanted all of us in heaven with Him but not at the cost of His righteousness! So He sent Christ to absorb our sins.
Our Awesome God does not remember your forgiven sins (Psalms 103:12), so why should you? God wants us to forgive ourselves, as He has forgiven us, and allow Jesus' blood to wash clean our conscience from all the evil we have done! God's forgiveness is for all who repent! Just try to learn from it. Praise God!
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you" (John 15:12 KJV). Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:"
(Luke 6:37 KJV)
"Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."
(1 Peter 3:9 KJV)
Jesus, the Son of Our Awesome God, passionately taught us to forgive others, to let go, to let Him handle it. He wants us to be at peace and for that to happen, anger must be replaced by forgiveness.
A few years ago, Christianity Today featured a cover story entitled, “The Forgiveness Factor: Social Scientist discover the power of a Christian virtue” (January 10, 2000). In it, they discussed how researchers have discovered the importance of forgiveness. What was most interesting was that they had come to the conclusion that the one who does the forgiving is the one who benefited the most. Jesus has been telling us this since He was on earth as a human in 33 AD and now scientists admit it.
Forgiving others is a commandment because stored anger often turns to bitterness. Not forgiving others is a sin. Our Awesome God will not forgive us if we do not forgive others (Mark 11:26).
Therefore, as Our Awesome God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12-13). Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Forgiving is necessary if you want to be at peace with God and yourself. The consequences of not forgiving others is not good for you and usually ends in you becoming bitter. Our Judge told us what we should do when He was on earth. It will not be easy but it is worth all our effort to forgive others. Our Awesome God will take care of revenge or consequences. It is God's job not ours to give judgment and sentence because He knows all things and is just. Our job is to obey and forgive others. Read Numbers 14:19-20, Matthew 5:23-24, Luke 17:3-4, and John 8:7. See you in heaven if not before!
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; "
(Hebrews 3:1 KJV)
We shouldn't believe we are just a forgiven sinner simply because some pastor tells us so. We must look these things up in the Holy Word of God for ourselves and know what Our Awesome God says. Jesus said clearly that if you continue in His Word, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free! (John 8:31-32) In Christ is your true identity, your complete freedom to be who God has made and redeemed you to be! In Christ, that’s the key to your life! The Apostle Paul implores us to live our lives "in Christ". He lived this way himself, boasting, “I glory in Christ” (Romans 5:17).
We need to remember that Our Awesome God wants us to know and believe the truth of Jesus Christ dying for our sins. The opposite of truth is deception or false belief and it will cause you to live in bondage unnecessarily. If you see yourself as a failure, you will not be able to boldly exercise your authority in Christ because you will feel unworthy (even after the Blood of Christ has made you worthy). If you claim to be unworthy after the Blood of Christ has made you worthy, then you will be denying the work of Christ in your life!
You need remember 3 things that will help you feel a part of Christ: 1) You are loved by Our Awesome God, 2) you are justified and declared innocent because of Jesus Christ dying for your sins, and 3) you are made new in Christ - adopted by God! These 3 things are backed up with Scripture in the Bible and if you don't feel "in Christ" then you should look them up: 1) John 17:23, 2) Galatians 2:16 and 3) 2 Corinthians 5:17 or John 1:12-13.
Our Awesome God wants you to know, feel comfortable in Christ's power or Identify and use it as Christ would. If you don't feel worthy to exercise your authority in Christ, then you won't be doing it in the fullness of faith and will lack assurance and thus the power of Christ's Identity. Satan loves this feeling and usually rushes in to increase your feeling of insecurity. The truth is, that we, by our own power and effort, are unworthy, and it is the Blood of Christ that makes us worthy. So step out boldly in Christ as you learn and get to know Him! Read your Bible and pray, for these are the best ways to understand Our Awesome God and to feel "in Christ," who was one with God.
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children, and Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for Prayer Meeting. When you come, ask about the home Bible studies during the week and the choir and Intercessory Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
