"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
(Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV)
Self-image teachers would like us to believe that we must have good self-images or else the devil will have a strong foothold in our lives. They believe that a poor self-image will keep us from recognizing our worth to Our Awesome God and therefore we won’t accept His gift of salvation. Satan just loves it when fads like this get started.
When we evaluate ourselves according to sound judgment, what do we find? As believers we will find that Our Awesome God has reached down to us totally by His grace to save unworthy sinners, making us children of God! We have been made worthy by God, not because we deserved it, but because of God’s love (Romans 5:8, John 3:16). Our value is not based upon a comparison of ourselves with others (as a matter of fact, that is forbidden in 2 Corinthians 10:12) but upon the position that we have in Christ as "...heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ..." (Romans 8:17 KJV)
As Christians, are we supposed to think badly about ourselves? Not at all! The Scriptural position is that we are to focus on Our Awesome God and others, not ourselves (Matt. 22:36-40). Any preoccupation with self (either in thinking too highly or too lowly) is an unbiblical response to God’s Word. Scripture starts from the position that we already love ourselves and commands us to love others equally. As a matter of fact, we are to put the interests of others before our own.
Our Awesome God knows that our preoccupation with self is a barrier to our believing and accepting that He would do all He has done to make us His children. We need to stop worrying about our self image and start remembering that Jesus Christ said to "love your neighbor as yourself". Focus on God and other people, not on yourself. Come join us at Living Word Baptist Church or find a Bible preaching, believing and teaching church close to you. But don't believe fads that people come up with. Instead, test it against a good Bible that was translated from the originally written languages. Read and know the Bible!!Join us at Living Word Baptist Church at 10:30 AM every Sunday and Bible Study is at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening. We have an Intercessory Prayer Team and Bible Study at 7:00 PM Monday and Wednesday. Learn with us how to use and invest your time with wisdom for Our Awesome God!
"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;"
(Matthew 26:26-27 KJV)
We know that Our Awesome God does all things for a good purpose, so why did Jesus, on the same night Judas betrayed Him, start the ordinance of communion? He was showing us His coming death on the cross, with the necessary blood, and it shows His love for us. Communion is a great way to picture and remember the awful humbling death with shed blood that Jesus endured for us. It teaches about how great His love for us is and, with the right words, it helps us to renew our commitment to Jesus Christ each time we have communion. No greater gift has ever been given to man since creation.
This is a wonderful teaching tool for all children of Our Awesome God and other children, but communion also focuses our attention on Jesus Christ, which is very important. Focusing our lives on Jesus is the way to keep our lives producing good results for Him. The world tries to keep Him out of most history books but Christians know that He is the central figure in life itself. Be sure you put Him as the main figure in your life!
When observing communion, we take time to examine ourselves: "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup." (1 Corinthians 11:28 KJV) In observing communion, we are proclaiming His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith: "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 11:27 KJV) It is important that we take time to check ourselves for unconfessed sins and ask Our Awesome God to bring them to our attention so we can ask forgiveness for them.
Come join us at our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We have communion once a quarter as a definite time was not set in the Bible to do it.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study. We have Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM and Sunday evening Bible Study at 6:00 PM along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. Our programs are varied but we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth."
(Genesis 11:9 KJV)
In the Holy Bible an interpreter may be of two kinds. He may be a translator, one who conveys the meaning of words spoken or written in one language to persons reading or speaking in another, and he can do this either orally or in writing. The other possibility is the interpreter may be one who interprets Bible prophecy by telling the meaning, significance, and understanding of prophetic dreams, visions, and messages of divine origin. Again, this could be written or spoken.
The confusion of man's language during the building of the Tower of Babel caused by man’s arrogance and at Our Awesome God’s command resulted in the human family becoming a multilingual race. This created the new professions of interpreter and translator. While the gift of interpretation was used by many as the years went by (Genesis 42:23 & 2 Chronicles 32:31 KJV), this gift was given to Jesus Christ's faithful disciples in 33 AD by the Holy Spirit to uplift the followers by teaching in their own languages (Acts 2:4-11). Other wonderful gifts were given to this group with instructions on how to use them.
Interpretation became more important as languages and visions changed. Some interpretations were false and self-serving.
We often over-look the instructions on how to use these gifts and how to identify those that are given by the Holy Spirit. Read 1 Corinthians 12 through 14 but read carefully verses 12:7 and 14:26-27. These tell you that if people don't understand or aren't uplifted, one should be silent. This gift is not for your glorification but for Our Awesome God's glory and honor. One’s ability to interpret is marvelous but it must be used wisely and with the understanding that it must glorify God, not us.
Like all gifts that Our Awesome God gives, from interpretation to pastoring to teaching to cleaning the church, we must do our best with the ones we have and not take them to use for any other purpose than for the glorification of God as He wants it done. If it is done any other way or for any purpose than God's, we will get in trouble eventually.
Come join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM.. We have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study that meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
"Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord."
(Ezra 3:8 KJV)
The summer is over and the delay is past, it is time to do the work Our Awesome God intended us to do. This delay wasn't a long one, only a few months. But any delay in doing the work God intends for us is too long, isn't it? Since we don't know how long we have left on this earth. For the remnant of God's returning people, it was time to build the temple and lay the foundation. For God's adopted children, it is time to put new programs in place and find better ways to spread Our Awesome God's Word to all the world, especially those people around us. Are you ready to run the race again?
We have all these gifts that God has given us, gifts that are not all meant for ourselves, they are mostly meant for other people. What better place than your church to use them? Do we really need for everyone to know we took the trash out at church? God will know!
Our Awesome God wants most of us to use the quieter gifts, the less visible, the less obvious ones, the willingness simply to help, to pitch in and do the job that nobody else is willing to do. These are the ones we need to help to fulfill our responsibilities to Our Awesome God and to His Son, Jesus Christ, who gives us joy and thankfulness for a job we know He helped us do. He even gives us a crown in eternity.
Vacation is over and it is time to stop delaying. So get on your knees and ask Our Awesome God what He wants you to do this year. Attend the planning meetings for Sunday School, for Bible Study, for the Women's Organizations or the Men's Groups, choir, etc. There is a place for your gifts. Even if they include the trash or calling others, you are special in God's eyes and your gifts need you to practice them.
People may forget to say thank you for your gifts and the use of them, but God doesn't forget. He loves you!! You might even be able to change jobs as Our Awesome God always has something for you to do!
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Our programs include Bible Study groups along with AWANA for children on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Let's see what we can do and learn!
