"But verify God hath heard me; He hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Which hath not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me!"
(Psalm 66:19-20 NKJV)
Our Awesome, infinite, complex, loving and righteous God will meet you where you are in your walk with Him. He can be so simple that a child of 6 years can understand Him or He can be so complex that you soon realize you will never know everything about Him. Most of us can only begin our conversation with Him where our knowledge of Him has led us. But we all need to talk with Him to understand Him as well as we can. Like all your friends and loved ones, be they neighbors or relatives, in order to know them you must talk to them. "My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up". (Psalm 5:3 NKJV)
As with all conversations it may be simple or complex in nature, but you need to know you can ask Our Awesome God anything and He will have the answer. As you slowly feel your way into conversation with God you begin to feel more confident and aware that He is listening and understands. But God knows that you need to express it aloud; hearing yourself say it is important to your remembering.
Talking with Our Awesome God will never be boring! Tell Him how you feel. Start where you are comfortable and advance at your pace to a deeper knowledge and understanding of this powerful, eternal and all knowing God whom you can lean on. Go on, tell Him how you feel. God knows everything and loves you beyond any love we know or really understand. Think of that for a minute or two. What are you really waiting for? Begin your conversations now with God, the great "I AM"! Our Awesome God can and will do whatever is necessary (if anything is) because He has the power, love and mercy to do it. But He wants to hear you express your concerns and fears!
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
(Isaiah 55:6-9 KJV)
Let's begin by stating that transcendence is the aspect of God's nature and power that is completely independent of the material universe and beyond all of its physical laws. We often contrast it with the immanence that says God is completely present in the physical world which makes Him accessible to man in various ways. Both are characteristics of Our Awesome God. Having both characteristics, God is able to communicate through prayer, "dreams" and "visions," and even make Balaam's donkey to "talk".
By now you should realize that Our Awesome God is completely free of creation. Our finite minds and experiences make it very hard to define and grasp who He is and what He can do because God is in all things around us but cannot be equated with all things.
Our Awesome God is a spirit because He is not made up of matter nor does He possess a physical nature as we do and the things around us do. He is free to do whatever He wants. He is only restricted by His perfection and His laws of judgment. He is our example of perfection and true judgment.
How can our perfect God co-exist with evil? God has allowed evil because without it there can be no recognition of God's perfect holiness and God's perfect love. He has allowed it to show more of His character for mankind. He loves His creations and wants them to love Him.
When we say God is transcendent, we mean that He is separate from His creation and not dependent on the created order in any way. Our Awesome God made the universe and He is therefore its sovereign ruler (Gen. 1:1). He has given us certain characteristics and knowledge, and has allowed us to use them for good or evil. So, depending on the choices we make, we can live forever, in heaven with Him - or in hell if we reject His salvation.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and how to teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children, which goes until 7:30 PM. There is more during the week. We love visitors!
"And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth."
(Genesis 9:1 KJV)
"And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited;..."
(Exodus 16:35 KJV)
Although there are several cities that predate 3800 BC, most of the history before 2300 BC involved three major ways of life that people followed: city life, nomadic herding and farming. The actual family life in each of these settings was slightly different but the overall work of the men, women and children remained about the same. The gender and age made a difference in what people were allowed to do. Our Awesome God slowly used each of these three groups of people and their ages to develop Families.
By the time of Moses, the nomadic herding Family would have had the men hunting, killing animals in the wild and from the herds to eat, occasionally herding (camels, horses, sheep and goats, cows and oxen, etc), practicing warfare, worshipping, teaching the boys old enough to work with them and governing their Families.
The women of this time would have cooked, gathered food except for meat, woven the fleece into rugs and blankets, laundered the clothes and put them away, cleaned the tent, and taken care of the children not working. They also taught the girls old enough to work, bathed themselves, bathed the children and, when possible, provided water for the men's baths and for eating and drinking purposes.
The children of Moses' time started with simple tasks around the tent of their mother, with her guidance, until they were about 5-9 years of age and could start working with their father if they were boys or more complicated things with their mother if they were girls. Eventually, the children learned what the adults knew from herding techniques to laundry to how to worship Our Awesome God. The Family was a close interdependent group who usually learned to work well together.
The Family was the place of learning to socialize, to work together, to depend on others as well as themselves and to worship Our Awesome God if they were part of Moses' Exodus. God fed them so they didn't need to kill their animals except to sacrifice them to God. He created the family so we would learn to work and depend on others as we saw, heard and experienced life.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sundays at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for the Praise and Worship Service. From 6:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday evening, we have a Bible Study and AWANA for children extending until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
" And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth."
(Genesis 11:3-4 KJV)
The archeological finds of the Near East tell a story of man's slow advancement in knowledge as Our Awesome God met their needs one at a time. As the need for something became apparent God's helping Hand allowed man to look for and find an answer. God was there to help man when the need was great but we have no idea on how long it took to discover each step toward the creation of something new. Archeology continues to make discoveries of different objects.
The Cradle of Civilization was in Mesopotamia where the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers have a very fertile valley that caused people to congregate before there were cities. These people slowly grouped together over time to protect their possessions and their lives from other smaller bands of people. Cities were formed around the fertile rivers and were fortified. Traders came with goods from other places to water and feed their livestock near these rivers. They traded with the people in these cities such as Ararat and Babylon. The Babylonians liked trading so they increased the wheat, flax, fruit and vegetables they grew so they could sell the extra. Soon they needed larger buildings to store the produce so they invented bricks, buildings and wheels. The Babylonians invented an irrigation system for those crops that grew a long way away from the river. Our Awesome God created man, all the plants and animals and man's brain and monitored his progress through the ages, helping him invent.
The Hand of God has always been and always will be on man, helping him with all things that keep him living. Man needs to put his pride aside and realize he can do nothing without God. We all need to realize that Our Awesome God created this complete world which includes our minds and give Him the glory for His inventions and ideas.
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM) Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children going until 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) there is Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. When you come, ask about the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."
(Hebrews 10:22 KJV)
How many of you exercise on a daily or weekly basis? If you are in an athletic sport such as football or a competitive sport like foot racing in marathons, you exercise more vigorously, pushing yourself to do better. But you do it daily and with determination to do better.
Until one day, you realize this is no longer fun it is hard work so you slack off or quit your exercise. Why pursue it anymore?
Let us look at and compare this scenario to the one above. A Christian realizes he is neglecting his relationship with Our Awesome God. So he begins a new spiritual routine of reading his Bible 45 minutes a day and praying. After a few days of keeping his spiritual routine, problems arise and he must spend more time at work. Now he must make an adjustment in his routine. Does he slack off on his spiritual routine or quit? Can he make time and still increase his work schedule?
Why do we pray and read our Bible? We know problems will arise to push our routine. Did we look at the possible consequences when we started this pursuit of Our Awesome God. We don't read our Bible and pray to get a perfect, trouble free life. Pursuing God is not a cause and effect. We do it to get closer to Our Awesome God and His perfect prescience. The pursuit of God will not keep you from having problems (2 Timothy 3:12 KJV), but a life of pursuing God will make you more like Him and is always the best way to go. You could study everything we know about God now and still spend eternity learning more about Him in heaven.
Our Awesome God still keeps charge of this universe, but His Son, Jesus Christ, will be the ultimate authority into eternity. Still, you cannot know the Son without knowing the Father (John 14:7-10). So pursue Him, learning as much as possible about this God that loves and wants you to know His kingdom, calls you His child and has expectations for you. Read His Book, the Holy Bible, and pray to Him as you memorize His Words.
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others to a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we love others while preaching and teaching from our Holy Bible about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our church has a Bible Study at 9:30 AM on Sunday and Worship Service at 10:30 AM and then at 6:00 PM there is another Bible Study along with children's AWANA clubs which go until 7:30 PM. We love visitors!
