"If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in you safely."
(Leviticus 26:3, 5 KJV)
If we could just focus our lives on Jesus Christ and keep all Our Awesome God's commandments, we would never be hungry but would meet the threshers as we planted the next crop to eat. The children in Africa would not be starving and we would know food was everywhere. God promised this but we couldn't stay away from sin and what it does. So we have Poor People! So we have awful starvation! We have terrorists! We have death!
It gets harder and harder to find neighborhoods anywhere on earth that are free from robberies, murders and drugs. This is what we want for our children so that they aren't threatened and that their peers aren't liars, thieves, alcoholics, drug addicts, or worse. Our Awesome God wants His children to live free of all the problems we now have to face in our lives but, for now, He has promised to help us and protect us through them.
However, we have a new world coming free of sin and all the problems that our sinning has created. (Revelation 21:1-4) Can you imagine how wonderful this place will be? Nothing to worry about or cause you problems! No more liars! No more murders or drugs! Just blessings!
God wants you to focus on Him and getting sin out of your life, but He knows that it is impossible for you to avoid all sin as long as you live in this old world. What you can do is study your Bible and know His law so you will know when you have sinned. Then you can confess your sin and claim Our Awesome God’s promise of forgiveness and cleansing. (1 John 1:9) We need to start in our own lives then help our children along the same path to righteousness. As Our Awesome God becomes the focus of your life, you will find a weight lifting from your shoulders and a feeling of freedom infecting your lives. God wants our lives to be happy and filled with purpose, not burdened with sin and dejection. Only Christians will find this new home called Heaven with enough to eat for everyone.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that can show you how to become a Christian and tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Praise/Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
"And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation."
(Isaiah 25:9 KJV)
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil… And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"
(Ephesians 5:15-16, 18 KJV)
Your time here on earth is fleeting (life) and then gone. Store up those "Precious Memories" of life here on earth, because heaven with Our Awesome God will eclipse anything that happens on earth. Our life here on earth is just preparation for heaven and eternity.
As we wait here on earth for Jesus Christ's Second Coming (the Rapture of the His People) to happen, we need to remember the wise virgins and that they were prepared for the Bridegroom to come. Are we following Our Awesome God's commandments? Are we obedient? Are we loving all of God's people? Are we preparing ourselves for heaven and eternity as heirs to God's kingdom? Don't grow weary doing what Our Awesome God asks us to do. We are waiting for our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ to come. Keep alert and keep improving your skills by trying what God wants you to learn to do. Read the Book of Revelation in the Bible and try to imagine how you will feel as each scene described happens.
Don't get impatient for Jesus Christ to come. You should be adding more crowns and remembering why God is waiting for that perfect time for Jesus Christ to come. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9 KJV) Yes, God is waiting until all have heard about Him and have had the chance to become Christians before sending Jesus Christ back.
Our Awesome God wants all to come to heaven but we each are choosing what we want...heaven or "the fiery pit". God wants each of us in a church that believes in Jesus Christ, a church that preaches and teaches from the Bible, focusing on God and Jesus. The church should be loving, living by Biblical principles, and encouraging to its members. Use your time on earth wisely for Our Awesome God. See you in heaven if not before!
Join us at LWBC every Sunday at 9:30 AM, we have small group Bible Studies and at 10:30 AM, we meet in the sanctuary for Worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. Our programs include Home Bible Studies and a Wednesday Prayer Meeting but are varied as we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible. We love visitors and practice the "love one another" commandment to all.
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown (in heaven) of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
(2 Timothy 4:8 KJV)
We will know beyond any doubt when we reach heaven whether we have chosen Jesus Christ. In heaven, there are four important things we will experience 1) be judged for what we have or have not done on earth, 2) rewarded for what we did, 3) worship and praise Jesus for all He did and 4) then we will serve Our Awesome God through our beloved Jesus Christ. Joy! Joy! Joy!
First, we will be judged by none other than Jesus Christ, who died for us when we were sinners. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV) When we think of all we have done against God, we tremble but should remember 2 Timothy 4:8 (above). And then read more. "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." (Psalms 103:10-12 KJV). Our Awesome God chose His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. Love you, Jesus!
Second, we are rewarded with gold crowns for what we did to tell others about Jesus Christ and help others on earth that need help, while loving our Lord and all humans. (There are five incorruptible crowns mentioned in the Bible that Jesus will give to us who earned them while on earth.)
Third, we will praise and worship Our Awesome God in the person of Jesus Christ. Heaven will not be boring because it is so dynamic and more real than earth, which will pass away. Praise will fall from our lips as we behold Jesus, savor His purity, touch His truth and see Him clothed in righteousness that makes Him shine brighter than the sun. We will reflect that glory of Jesus!
Fourth, we will serve with Jesus in heaven, "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." (Romans 8:17 KJV) Our service will depend upon how faithful and obedient we are here on earth. But there will be plenty of jobs for all. "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." (Revelation 3:21 KJV) Is heaven your home?
On 6/25/15 the website will have Part #4 Heaven Our Home for you to read. Meanwhile keep reading your Bible about, and praying to, Our Awesome God. Join us at LWBC for Sunday Worship Services at 10:30 AM next Sunday and for Bible Study and AWANA for children at 7:00 PM Sunday evening. We love visitors!
"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."
(Philippians 3:20-21 KJV)
Our earthly bodies are all corrupted by sin (Romans 7:24-25) but we will get new spiritual bodies from Our Awesome God that are incorruptible and will have no pain and no growing old. These bodies will be bodies that last through all eternity. Our entrance to heaven requires a new body (1 Corinthians 15:50). Our hearts will be new too, and purified so that sin is not sitting ready to pounce on us (Psalms 17:4). If our heart desires heaven, then we will want to place our citizenship there, so it follows that we also want to know more about heaven.
We will get a new mind from Our Awesome God to go with our new heart and body. "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV) So now things are known on earth in "part" but when we get to heaven we will have the mind of Christ (1 John 3:2). Most important is that we won't be sinning or tempted to sin as we are here on earth.
Our Awesome God has planned it all out from beginning to end (Acts 17:26). Our Christian encounters here are not by chance but are encounters with friends that God knew would help us and would enrich our lives. We will see many of them in heaven and meet many others including the great Biblical characters that are in the Holy Bible. That also is why we should want to know more about heaven.
Our Awesome God will work while we are on earth to improve us for the time when we will become perfect in body, heart and mind for His new heaven and earth. The feeling of being without sin must be marvelous. Remember, only Christians go to heaven because they are the ones that want to be with God in heaven. Look again at our website on 6/24/15 for #3 Is Heaven Our Home? This will be part 3 of Heaven with Our Awesome God.
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others and reminding ourselves about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a children's program called AWANA. There is more during the week. Bible Studies in homes and a Prayer meeting with a Bible Study on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. We love visitors!
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."
(Revelation 21:1 KJV)
When looking for information about heaven, Our Awesome God's Bible seems to be cryptic. We stumble over word pictures of crowns, streets of gold, thrones, etc. All these images seem to be stumbling blocks or deterrents to our understanding heaven. The images are actually meant to be incentives. The word pictures of palms, crowns, streets of gold, thrones, seas of glass are symbols as used in our Holy Bible.
Joni Eareckson Tada once said, "One purpose of a symbol is to represent in a simple way a more complex action or idea." We need to remember that Our Awesome God often uses symbols to help us become curious about something such as heaven.
If we use the images of heaven given to us in Scripture as symbols, then we will be getting a partial view of heaven, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face; …" (1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV). So heaven will be a blurred image of what it really is unless we use these symbols as incentives to look deeper into God’s Word.
It is also thought that, since Scripture is always comparing things in heaven to something we know here on earth, maybe heaven is indescribable. That possibly our language cannot come close to allowing we humans to understand what Paul saw in 2 Corinthians 12:2, the prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 1:26-28 or John in Revelation. But what a wonderful place they describe.
Our Awesome God has prepared for us a new adventure when we get to heaven. Join me on 6/23/15 for the next discussion on heaven called: #2 NEW Everything? Meanwhile, read the Book of Revelation and John's description of heaven. Pray to walk a little closer to Our Awesome God.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for Worship Service. At 6:00 PM we have a Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
(Acts 1:8 KJV)
"Our God is an Awesome God. He reigns from Heaven above with wisdom, power and love". Yes, we should feel joy, peace and love because we are Christians and His children. We need to remind ourselves of His wisdom, power, and love sometimes. But we know Heaven is our home forever! We know that if we belong to Jesus Christ we will not escape but will be a Christian forever.
The word Christian means a lot. It means we live forever with Jesus Christ in heaven. It means love and help from Our Awesome God. It means we live in heaven forever with no fighting, no pain, no sorrow, and no disease. We will be happy ruling with Jesus Christ and helping others.
What about others who aren't His children, who don't know about God and His love for us or the salvation and home He offers us? Have we told them about God or even invited them to church? Is our walk with God above reproach? Do we walk, think and talk like God wants us to? Are we thinking about how long forever is in Hell without the peace and love of Jesus Christ?
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 KJV
Our Awesome God keeps His promises and is aware of all things that have happened and are going to happen in the future, nothing surprises Him! Christians are children of the most powerful, loving and creating God and King. He knows everything and everyone!
Our Awesome God asks us to tell all people about Jesus Christ not just those we want to. We never know for sure who is saved. We don't always know if they were told clearly about Jesus and His salvation. Regardless, if the non-Christian were told again, or in a different way about God and salvation, might he believe in God and follow Him? Can you take the chance by not telling them about Jesus one more time? Most of all, when you call yourself a Christian, remember what you stand for or represent - Jesus Christ and His world!
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM and at 6:00 PM for Bible Study with AWANA for children. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
(Isaiah 14:12, 14-15 KJV)
The above verse from the Book of Isaiah describes Satan's (Lucifer's) fall to earth and him starting his troubling of the nations of earth to dethrone Our Awesome God. When we talk about "spiritual battles," we are talking about there being a spiritual realm that we do not see and that we would like to ignore. But we need to believe that this spiritual realm exists because it does. Read Nehemiah 9:6, Luke 2:13-15, Ephesians 6:12 and then Colossians 1:15-16.
We all have the feeling, at times, that this world has more in it than we can see. If we can believe in Our Awesome God and Jesus Christ whom we can't see then surely we can believe in a spiritual battle that includes words, lies, deceit from Satan.
The Bible, Our Awesome God's Book, is filled with references to the heavenly realm (Numbers 22:22-25), a place that is physically invisible to our eyes today, yet very real in its existence. We Christians believe with the eyes of our heart, instead of just with the eyes in our head. There have been some who were able to see into the spiritual realm as physical images. (John in Revelation is one).
A portion of "spiritual battles" is the war within you between the flesh and the Spirit and it began in the Garden of Eden. It was the start of the second recorded battle between Satan and Our Awesome God in the war for God's place in heaven. Satan knew how much God loved man and chose to intercept men's souls (their allegiance) through lies and deceit in the Garden of Eden (the beginning of our spiritual battles). It is a battle between Satan and Our Awesome God and we are the pawns. So when we chose to sin, we chose to take Satan's side. Thus, we lose.
We need to know that the spiritual realm exists and that there is a spiritual battle for our souls so we can defend ourselves with God’s salvation and live eternally in heaven with Our Awesome God. Tomorrow, the Our Awesome God series will include "#2, The Earthly Battle."
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. There are many opportunities to learn about God in our programs which include Bible Study groups, Prayer Meetings at 7:00 PM on Wednesday and AWANA for children on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM. See what you can do and learn!
