"Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
(John 20:29 KJV)
We are easily distracted from the unseen Kingdom of Our Awesome God by the things of this world that we can see. Take Peter for instance, if he was going to walk on water to Jesus he had to ignore what he could see, the high wind and waves battering the boat, and walk to Him. He would not get there if he focused on the waves and he couldn't do both. Peter had to focus on Jesus, a Jesus he could see, but he needed a trust he could not see to get him across those angry waves. When he lost that focus and trust, he started sinking.
When you pray, you cannot see anyone and yet, by focusing on talking to Our Awesome God, you can know He hears you. And when He answers, you cannot see Him but the deep peace He leaves with you makes you know He heard and will take care of the "problem."
Sometimes the telephone rings and we answer it instead of going to prayer time. We are easily distracted by the physical things we see instead of the job we set out to do--pray. God is patient but He wants us to eagerly trust and seek Him. He is in control of all things.
Are you easily distracted from doing what God wants you to do because you cannot see Him? He will still be with you and know if you did what He asked. So remember that your commitment to Our Awesome God is more important than picking up your suits from the cleaners. God is your future but you cannot see Him unless He makes it happen. Ah, but He loves you!
Our future is heaven if we are God's children. Are you a Christian just waiting to go home? It will be a perfect world with no poverty, no crying, no death, with justice, with no fighting, with happiness, plenty to eat, clothes and a mansion are provided. Most of all, Our Awesome God will be there! Heaven is not yet seen by us, but it is there.
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others and ourselves to have a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we love others while preaching and teaching from our Holy Bible about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. On Sunday, our church has a Bible Study at 9:30 AM, a Worship Service at 10:30 AM and then at 6:00 PM there is another Bible Study hour along with a children's program called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
(James 5:15-16 KJV)
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"
(Luke 11:13 KJV)
As Christians, we need to realize that prayer is power and how it helps us to mature. Remember, also, that prayer is a mighty link with our heavenly Father and an incredible privilege and responsibility that He has given us to move His hand in impossible situations.
Our Awesome God has given us the power through prayer to move the hand of God. "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7 KJV) This means we have faith in God or Jesus Christ to do what we want done if that is within His Will.
The source of prayer power is the Holy Spirit and the instrument of prayer power is you. It is you when you are filled with the Holy Spirit and pray in Jesus name. In fact, it was by your prayer in Jesus name that the Holy Spirit was given to you, and by your prayer in His name, the Holy Spirit filled you and empowered you (Luke 11:13).
Our Awesome God has let us be the instrument of power but the power comes through our prayers only when we depend on the Holy Spirit and pray to Jesus Christ. Accordingly, when we pray in the Holy Spirit we are saying to God, “I can do nothing without you, Lord. You are my strength. I wait on You for power to do whatever it is You want me to do.” And then, out of our weakness, He gives us the omnipotent power of Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9).
As quoted above, Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7 KJV) What power! To be able to receive whatever we wish and have it in God's Will! It comes to us when we give ourselves totally to Him as His instrument of righteousness and our will becomes aligned with His.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study. We have Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM and Sunday evening Bible Study at 6:00 PM along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
(Psalms 16:11 KJV)
Sometimes we get so immersed in the problems around us that we forget that deep joy we have felt when Our Awesome God was near and we felt at complete peace with everything around us as we talked to Him. This is that deep joy that you get when talking to our Lord and Savior. It is a peaceful joy that we can feel when we have trusted God to take all our problems. Because you often feel that He is life since our thoughts are washed in His thoughts and our wills are strengthened by His will. We say we will never let this feeling get away from us but it does.
When this marvelous joy starts leaving us, and it does start when we turn to the world and leave His presence, we need to schedule our next talk with our Lord and keep it. We need to talk quietly with Him all day as He helps us with our problems and the problems of others around us. But when bedtime comes, our visit with Our Awesome God needs to happen to keep that joy in our hearts. Often we are tired and we just crawl into bed and pull the covers up, forgetting to pray before we sleep. We miss out on one of the greatest ways to relax when we don't tell God our problems and pray at the end of a day.
It becomes the norm to smile most of the day when you have the joy of the Lord in you, to hug those close to you, to clap your hands and sing to the Lord. Our "first love" is there with that deep peace that keeps you wanting to spend more time with Him. But you need quiet, time to pray, to focus on Our Awesome God and to leave this world briefly in order to get that joy back. You will be a happier person and so will those around you when you can feel Him helping you with words and giving you ideas to help others. PRAY until it returns!
Singing songs of praise and joy to Our Awesome God helps us continue to feel this joy longer whether we sing or we listen to the song. Reading His Bible and things He has done for others makes the joy and peace linger longer in your heart and mind. You may have other methods that you use.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and how to teach others from His Holy Bible. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we have Bible Study at 9:30 AM then pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM. Then at 6:00 PM we start an hour of Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and a Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
(John 14:27 KJV)
"Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed."
(Exodus 23:12 KJV)
Nothing that is done is done without a purpose. Our Awesome God created the solar systems by command to make us a home and all of nature responded with detail and precision to have them work perfectly. So when God commands, "thou shalt rest," He has a purpose for resting. What does rest mean to you? Is it the calm before the storm? Is it physical or spiritual rest?
There are three types of "rest" that are talked about in the Bible and that should be mentioned at this time, 1) physical rest that was commanded in Exodus 23:12, 2) peaceful love that was promised in John 14:27 and 3) "My rest" that is a reward in Hebrews 3:11. #1 Can and should be experienced by both Christians and non-Christians while #2 & #3 can be experienced only by the Christians.
#1 is a commandment given by Our Awesome God for all to take time to "rest" and worship Him. This commandment, if not followed, can make the person not doing it sick. We all need physical rest. #2 is promised to the man that faithfully follows Jesus' commandments and it is a warm, loving process for those that know Our Awesome God. And #3 is a reward for believing in Jesus Christ and God, it is an eternal home in heaven.
What kind of rest is God offering us? In all cases, rest is a relief from work. In #1, it is rest on earth from physical labor and in #2, it is rest on earth from the spiritual stresses of our work. But when Our Awesome God says, "enter into My Rest," (#3) He is referring to being with Him in heaven, where our work on earth is over and the state of rest may be permanent. But to receive #3 you must be a Christian.
Our Awesome God accepts anyone who realizes that they are sinning and is ready to stop sinning and do it God's way. Come, tell Him your sins and that you are ready to stop. All Christians have confessed, because only our Lord can get rid of sin for you. Don't wait! A Christian is just a saved sinner. Become a Christian by repenting of those sins and believing in Christ's ability to pay your sin debt.
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. There are many opportunities to learn about God in our programs. See what you can do!
"Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord."
(Jeremiah 23:23-24 KJV)
The word "immanence" means Our Awesome God is present everywhere and knows everything and created everything. God manifests Himself in everything from history to the lives of people in both a mundane way and in a spectacular way. This has been taught for several millennia by most Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders as their doctrine of an eternal, transcendent and immanent God.
When you read the Bible carefully, you realize that Our Awesome God created the universe, a physical universe, out of nothing and that God Himself is greater than all other things in this physical realm He created. He is not physical, but spiritual. God exists outside of what can usually be seen by human beings which He created. Being a Spirit, He exists in a metaphysical "body." Read these verses to help you understand the difference in God's nature and ours: Genesis 1:1; John 1:3; 4:24; and Hebrews 11:3. God is everywhere, created everything, knows everything including what you just thought and is a Spirit so He usually cannot be seen by our earthly eyes.
The important things we need to know about God's immanence and transcendence is that: 1) The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. 2) He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding is complete. No one can understand as He does. 3) Our Awesome God is eternal, He is omnipotent and omniscient. 4) God is huge and no one and nothing can be compared to Him for there is no one like Him. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. And the day we actually see God, we will know who He is and all things we know will fit together nicely. We will be home!
We will be able to know all that we need to know. But be assured Our Awesome God will know more and do more. He lives and keeps us alive!
Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). We have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study that meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors and try to always appreciate God's creation.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
(Philippians 4:6 KJV)
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
(Hebrews 4:16 KJV)
There is a time that comes to you when you are praying. It comes to all who pray believing and trusting Our Awesome God and it is called a turning point in prayer. It is a time when we are willing to do or accept God's will instead of our own. Usually the prayers that you are most personally and passionately involved with are the hardest to turn over to Him and allow Him to do what is best for all involved. This is true even when you believe He knows best, because it often can be agonizing to know that by telling Him to do His will, the answer may mean your loved one goes to heaven.
We need to remember that Jesus Christ knew what would happen before and during His time on the cross and yet He said, "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me." (John 6:38 KJV) Yes, He knew what was going to happen and how He would die in pain and humiliation. And He knew what God wanted and why. He did God's will! Shall we do less?
We must realize that, as Our Awesome God knew what was best for His Son, He knows what is best for each person we pray for. He is trustworthy and loving. He wants what is best for His created and adopted children. He taught us faith and love and grace so we know He is pure. God will always do what is beneficial for us, though it may not seem so at the time to us. He can see the whole plan and how it all fits together. He will always love you!
God wants you helping Him to tell others about what He has done for you and can do for them. Come join us as we learn more about Our Awesome God and His Son, Jesus Christ and then put it into action in our community. At our church we believe that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. He can be found at our church.
Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and 10:30 AM for worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM for Bible Study along with a children's program called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and prayer with a Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We appreciate visitors!
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is... Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name."
(Psalms 63:1, 4 KJV)
How do you praise the Lord? How often do you praise the Lord? Do you lift your arms toward heaven to praise the Lord? Praising the Lord, Our Awesome God, means you are praying (talking) to Him and it seems a natural thing to praise Him at times and to lift your arms toward heaven. When we do this, it is a sign of our reverence, our adoration and our surrender to God. The lifting of arms toward heaven was used in some of the sacrifices the Israelites offered to God such as the one David writes about in Psalms 141:2.
You know by this act of lifting your arms, you are surrendering to Our Awesome God and giving Him your trust. He will take control and things will proceed as God knows they should. And you, you will feel a deep peace because it is no longer a problem that you are trying to control, it is God's to do His way. But God wants you to tell Him that you want help. That you trust Him! So lift up those arms and praise Him. Tell Him how wonderful He is. You'll love the results!
Occasionally there are some people in a church who have never lifted their arms, never put their total trust in Our Awesome God and never just worshipped Him by surrendering it all to Him. These people can get a little emotional, especially the first time they release all those emotions they have harbored for years and give control into God's Hands. Love these people! They are our Lord's children and our siblings. Praise our God any way you want because He will know what you are feeling and what you are expressing. Amen!
You can never praise Our Awesome God too much. Think of all He has done from creating you, to forgiving you, to sending Jesus Christ to be a sacrifice for your sins and then adopting you into His Family when you become a Christian. He wants only the best for you. Praise His Holy Name!
