"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph."
(Psalms 47:1 KJV)
"Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed."
(1 Samuel 2:3 KJV)
How do we praise Our Awesome God? The Lord mainly wants our heart right and our praise to be heard. He wants us to be joyful, thankful, appreciative and loving. Do you express this as you sing? Do you lift your hands and voice in awe to our God? Do you praise God with your mouth?
When the Bible tells us to “PRAISE” Our Awesome God, it’s calling us to give vent to our adoring heart. Worship can be silent, but praise never is. Whether the song is slow or fast, or even if it's not a song at all but perhaps a shout or applause, it's irrelevant, but we are called to verbalize the adoration of our hearts. We are to tell Him that we appreciate Him and love Him.
The Bible emphasizes "praise" almost as much as prayer and if you pray and praise God, and you mean it, you are pleasing the Lord. Your praise is important to Our Awesome God. It tells Him where your heart is. It tells Him that you love and appreciate Him and that you know you do. It tells Him that you are okay. He never sleeps and He is always there to help you.
Our whole life should be a praise to our God, all of our being is to "praise God" including the spirit, soul and body. Real worship begins in our spirit and our praising of Our Awesome God will cause us to spiritually come into His presence. Remember that worship can be silent but "praising" never is. Remember also, there is power when you pray and praise Him at the same time.
Our Awesome God has done so much for us, such as creating this whole universe and all that is in it, making everything work together to keep everything reproducing what is needed to live and giving us a Savior in Jesus Christ so we could go to the heaven He made. We can surely find plenty to praise Him for.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"
(Ephesians 1:6-7 KJV)
The biblical meaning of grace is defined as divine blessing and unmerited favor from Our Awesome God that brings joy and salvation to undeserving man. The word "Grace" goes beyond that, even to love given by a perfect God, Father God, to imperfect man who continues to sin and need God's grace. The Book of Titus says, "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" (Titus 3:3-5 KJV)
We need to talk about what, next to Jesus, is the sweetest word in all of the Bible, the word, "Grace." Without Grace you cannot know Our Awesome God. Without Grace you cannot understand God. Without Grace you cannot relate to God. There is not a word that is more important to the Christian than the word, Grace.
The Greek word, "charis" gives the idea of enabling and giving generously without thought of any return. This is grace as God gives it. The receiver feels love and thankfulness. Grace is an attribute of Our Awesome God and can be thought of as the reason for all favors given to us by God. God’s love makes Him want to give to us in spite of our disobedient behavior and His Grace allows it to happen without compromising His righteousness. God’s righteousness still requires death as the payment for sin and Our Awesome God has also fulfilled that requirement through Jesus Christ, His ultimate act of Grace.
Our Awesome God wants you to recognize that everything, even life itself, is given through His Grace. He has revealed Himself through His Grace so you can know and understand Him and His Laws. His Grace provides a way for you to become His child and inherit eternal life.
Join us at LWBC Sunday at 9:30 AM, we have small group Bible Studies and at 10:30 AM, we meet in the sanctuary for the Worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have a Bible Study that meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
(Psalms 16:11 KJV)
Sometimes we get so immersed in the problems around us that we forget that deep joy we have felt when Our Awesome God was near and we felt at complete peace with everything around us as we talked to Him. This is that deep joy that you get when talking to our Lord and Savior. It is a peaceful joy that we can feel when we have trusted God to take all our problems. Because you often feel that He is life since our thoughts are washed in His thoughts and our wills are strengthened by His will. We say we will never let this feeling get away from us but it does.
When this marvelous joy starts leaving us, and it does start when we turn to the world and leave His presence, we need to schedule our next talk with our Lord and keep it. We need to talk quietly with Him all day as He helps us with our problems and the problems of others around us. But when bedtime comes, our visit with Our Awesome God needs to happen to keep that joy in our hearts. Often we are tired and we just crawl into bed and pull the covers up, forgetting to pray before we sleep. We miss out on one of the greatest ways to relax when we don't tell God our problems and pray at the end of a day.
It becomes the norm to smile most of the day when you have the joy of the Lord in you, to hug those close to you, to clap your hands and sing to the Lord. Our "first love" is there with that deep peace that keeps you wanting to spend more time with Him. But you need quiet, time to pray, to focus on Our Awesome God and to leave this world briefly in order to get that joy back. You will be a happier person and so will those around you when you can feel Him helping you with words and giving you ideas to help others. PRAY until it returns!
Singing songs of praise and joy to Our Awesome God helps us continue to feel this joy longer whether we sing or we listen to the song. Reading His Bible and things He has done for others makes the joy and peace linger longer in your heart and mind. You may have other methods that you use.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and how to teach others from His Holy Bible. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we have Bible Study at 9:30 AM then pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM. Then at 6:00 PM we start an hour of Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and a Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph."
(Psalms 47:1 KJV)
Our Awesome God should be worshipped with joy and gladness in our hearts. The purpose of worship is to glorify, honor, praise, exalt, and please God. Our worship must show our adoration and loyalty to God for His grace in providing us with the way to escape the bondage of sin, so we can have the salvation He wants to give us.
Worship is a time when we pay deep, sincere, total respect, love, and fear to Our Awesome God, the one who created us. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; (Acts 17:24-25 KJV).
Our worship not only honors and magnifies Our Awesome God, but it is also for our own knowledge and strength. Worship helps us become more God-like and Christ-like in our character. We will become like those we admire and worship. When we worship God we tend to value what God values and slowly take on the characteristics and qualities of God, though never to His level.
While we worship God, we start developing such traits as forgiveness, tenderness, justice, righteousness, purity, kindness, and love. Worshipping is slowly preparing us for eternal life in heaven with God and Jesus Christ. As we are told, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2 KJV).
Our Awesome God has a purpose for all He does for us while we are on earth, preparing us for heaven and eternal life. So your worship of God should be with a heart focused on Him, remembering His goodness, giving Him our love, praise and respect. Be glad and happy that He is your Father and that He loves you. Worship Him! His eternal home for Christians is Heaven.
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others to a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we love others while preaching and teaching from our Holy Bible about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our church has a Bible Study at 9:30 AM on Sunday and Worship Service at 10:30 AM and then at 6:00 PM there is Bible Study along with a children's program called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands... Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
(Psalms 100:1, 4 KJV)
We often hear shouts of joy and gladness as our ball team plays and scores points. How often do you hear shouts for joy and gladness as we worship Our Awesome God or hear of another person whom God has saved? We are told that the angels "rejoice" when another becomes a Christian! (Luke 15:10 NIV) We want an orderly worship but how about a rejoicing shout from everyone when someone is baptized? A joyful praise! A realization that another is heaven bound.
In Psalm 100, the writer took his joyful praise seriously, as we should. God wants us to focus all our energy on telling others about Him and His Kingdom. We should be always thinking of what we can do to increase people's knowledge of Our Awesome God and then praying for His direction to help their belief!
God's goodness and grace should make us want to freely shout and make joyful praises unto Him. This means that those who are more reserved need to push back their reservations and make joyful praises to God. And those who are more expressive such that they miss the beauty of silence may need to learn from those who are more reflective. But we should be more joyful and vocal when we praise Our Awesome God. We want the Lord to know we appreciate all He has done for us and is doing for us. We can never praise Him enough!!
Our Awesome God wants you to be happy and glad as you make joyful praises unto Him, for He loves you. We just need to praise Him ALL the time. So look long at the wonderful things God has done in the Holy Bible for all humans and for you and those you know and PRAISE Him joyfully for He is wonderful. Sing to Him! Pray to Him, telling Him how glad you are that He is God!
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others to a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Come join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM.. We have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study that meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. We love visitors!
"Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits."
(Romans 12:12-16 KJV)
Our Awesome God has a purpose (as He always does) in developing a Christ-like character in His people. As we mature to become more like God, we are becoming ready for heaven. This means we should be rejoicing in our hope, be more patient during troubles and be persistent in prayer along with other characteristics Paul mentions in Romans chapter 12.
Our joy in Christ should shine on our faces, should be evident in our behavior and present in our speech. We often do not focus on our hope and therefore our joy in Christ because we are trying to keep from sinning. We Christians are known as a "sober" people. But we should be "bubbling over" with excitement and joy in our Hope of Christ and our future in heaven with Our Awesome God. This joy should really shine from our faces after we spend time praying to God. Does your face show your joy in Christ after you pray? Did you listen for His Voice?
It is apparent that Our Awesome God uses troubles to develop our characters into a closer approximation of His. Trouble does not always happen just to punish someone, but to enrich and mature him into becoming more Christ-like. It can be, and often is, God's discipline for the person under going trouble. But trouble will happen to everyone because it is the "field" on which we learn the most and God knows this.
Just think Our Awesome God cares enough to get His child ready for His Kingdom - Heaven! During any time of trouble, prayer will give you peace, patience and the right attitude if you listen. So pray fervently for God's help to learn what He wants you to know and be changed into a more mature Christian. He is a Loving Father!
Are we behaving like a Christian? Can people see and hear a Christian when they know us or see us? Let us pray that we mature into the characteristics that Our Awesome God wants in His heaven and begin to act like a Christian should.
Join us for church in the Sanctuary this coming Sunday at 10:30 AM. We also have Bible Study on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Sunday evening at 6:00 PM. Our programs are varied but we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown (in heaven) of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
(2 Timothy 4:8 KJV)
We will know beyond any doubt when we reach heaven whether we have chosen Jesus Christ. In heaven, there are four important things we will experience 1) be judged for what we have or have not done on earth, 2) rewarded for what we did, 3) worship and praise Jesus for all He did and 4) then we will serve Our Awesome God through our beloved Jesus Christ. Joy! Joy! Joy!
First, we will be judged by none other than Jesus Christ, who died for us when we were sinners. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV) When we think of all we have done against God, we tremble but should remember 2 Timothy 4:8 (above). And then read more. "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." (Psalms 103:10-12 KJV). Our Awesome God chose His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. Love you, Jesus!
Second, we are rewarded with gold crowns for what we did to tell others about Jesus Christ and help others on earth that need help, while loving our Lord and all humans. (There are five incorruptible crowns mentioned in the Bible that Jesus will give to us who earned them while on earth.)
Third, we will praise and worship Our Awesome God in the person of Jesus Christ. Heaven will not be boring because it is so dynamic and more real than earth, which will pass away. Praise will fall from our lips as we behold Jesus, savor His purity, touch His truth and see Him clothed in righteousness that makes Him shine brighter than the sun. We will reflect that glory of Jesus!
Fourth, we will serve with Jesus in heaven, "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." (Romans 8:17 KJV) Our service will depend upon how faithful and obedient we are here on earth. But there will be plenty of jobs for all. "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." (Revelation 3:21 KJV) Is heaven your home?
On 6/25/15 the website will have Part #4 Heaven Our Home for you to read. Meanwhile keep reading your Bible about, and praying to, Our Awesome God. Join us at LWBC for Sunday Worship Services at 10:30 AM next Sunday and for Bible Study and AWANA for children at 7:00 PM Sunday evening. We love visitors!
