"And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? "
(Luke 18:7, 8 KJV)
"God's timing is not ours to command. If we do not start the fire with the first strike of our match, we must try again. God does hear our prayer, but He may not answer it at the precise time we have appointed in our own minds. Instead, He will reveal Himself to our seeking hearts, though not necessarily when and where we may expect. Therefore we have a need for perseverance and steadfast determination in our life of prayer.
"In the old days of flint, steel and brimstone matches, people had to strike the match again and again, perhaps even dozens of times, before they got a spark to light their fire, and they were very thankful if they finally succeeded. Should we not exercise the same type of perseverance and hope regarding heavenly things? When it comes to faith, we have more certainty of success than we could ever have had with flint and steel, for we have God's promises as a foundation.
"May we, therefore, never despair. God's time for mercy will come -- in fact, it already has come, if our time for believing has arrived. Ask in faith without wavering, but never cease to petition the King simply because He has delayed His reply. Strike the match again and make the sparks fly. Yet be sure to have your tinder ready, for you will get a fire before long." Written by Charles H. Spurgeon in Streams in the Desert on page 430 of the 1997 edition by L. B. Cowman and published by Zondervan.
The above comment expresses encouragement we should have as we pray to Our Awesome God and His wonderful Son, Jesus Christ, and don't get immediate answers. Continue praying, for our God's time is not the same as ours but He will answer every prayer. The answer will be a "Yes, later, now, wait, or no". But He will answer! Just not always the way you might want. He uses your prayers together with His knowledge and wisdom to fulfill those prayers.
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM) Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children which goes until 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. When you come, ask about the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
"The word of the Lord which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah (Hezekiah), in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah"
(Zephaniah 1:1 KJV)
Zephaniah was a minor prophet of our God only because he didn't write 50 chapters like the Major Prophets did. There are 12 Minor Prophets in the Old Testament of our Bibles, but there’s nothing minor about Zephaniah or what he has to say. This man, used by Our Awesome God, helped reform and a revival to sweep the nation of Israel at the time of King Josiah's reign (640-609 BC). Zephaniah was a great grandson of Hezekiah, making him part of the royal family and a third cousin to King Josiah.
Everyone was sure that, with a good king such as Josiah on the throne, Our Awesome God would forgive them. But Zephaniah stood up and said, "NO, judgment will happen and cannot be stopped. God's judgment is coming, it will be swift, it will be complete, it will be for all. And there is nothing that can be done to prevent it." He preached this before Judah was taken into captivity, so very few paid any attention to him!
Verse 2 of Zephaniah 1 says, "I will utterly consume everything from the face of the land" says the Lord."' You cannot get more complete than that. All will be judged everything and all will be consumed. Read all of the Book of Zephaniah. The judgment is on God's chosen people, on the kings, rulers, the religions, the indifferent, the lazy, the complacent, EVERYTHING!
Zephaniah’s message was to the Jews in the kingdom of Judah and was fulfilled in the Babylonian captivity. Their hope was in God’s promise of repatriation in the next generation. Likewise, some day the people of this world will be judged by Jesus Christ, Our Awesome God's chosen judge. But hope for our people today is found in Jesus Christ and our belief and obedience to His commandments. Hope for our world is not in stopping judgment, judgment is coming. What we need to do is seek refuge in Our Awesome God's Son, Jesus Christ. Read Zephaniah 1:7-8, 14-15. Our Awesome God has decided to take all things through judgment to salvation. Seek refuge and shelter in Jesus Christ, for He will be pleased to hide another. Repent!
Who do you know who needs to know Jesus Christ and Him crucified? Tell them about our Lord and bring them to our church or attend a church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Praise/Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
"And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father."
(Genesis 49:1, 2 KJV)
To be an Israelite by blood, a person must be a descendent of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The 12 sons of Jacob had grown into 12 tribes by the time they left Egypt. All together they had become a 3 million man “nation” of Our Awesome God's chosen people.
The tribe of Levi was to be dedicated to God’s service. Moses, a Levite, was the leader out of Egypt and Our Awesome God gave him the Law. God put Moses’ brother, Aaron, the High Priest in charge of all the sacrifices and worship in the Tabernacle, assisted by his sons. The rest of the Levites were responsible for temple transport, security, maintenance and provisions.
Also of special consideration, the tribe of Joseph was divided between his two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. Each of these “half tribes” was given equality with the other 11 tribes so 13 tribes came to conquer and divide up Canaan, the Promised Land.
Only 12 tribes received large tracts of land. Those people needed access to the priesthood through the Levites, so instead of a land tract, Our Awesome God gave the Levites cities with adjoining “suburbs” within all the other 12 tribal lands. So the 12 landed tribes were: Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Benjamin, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim and Manasseh. The four most prominent have been mentioned earlier as: Judah. The tribe of kings and the most preeminent of the 12 tribes in the Bible. Reuben: Descended from Jacob’s firstborn, whom Jacob said was as “uncontrolled as water” (Genesis 49:4). Simeon: The man Simeon (with his brother Levi) slaughtered the men of an entire city to avenge his sister (Genesis 34:25–31). Levi: The tribe of the priesthood. The tribe of Levi is noted for standing by Moses during the golden calf incident at Mount Sinai (Exodus 32:25–29). The “Twelve Tribes of Israel” refers to the twelve tribes who inherited land in or around Canaan when it was divided by Joshua.
Our Awesome God still uses sinners to teach them about Himself, what He expects of them and that He can do anything (even forgive sinners who know they have sinned to create and populate His heaven). God will adopt us if we will just believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, and that He died for us, taking our sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for us when we sin. Are you ready to believe? God loves you! Join us at church next Sunday.
