"And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud".
(Exodus 16:10 KJV)
When a storm of life is coming and you have prayed, lift your eyes to the clouds and look for the silver lining. Get in the habit of looking for it. We know Our Awesome God has provided it and will always help if we ask, for He has a purpose for each person. The approaching storm may have dark ominous edges with flashes of lightening and growling thunder, but they have that silver lining somewhere. We want to focus on the good (silver lining) God will provide, not the looming problems we see ahead because God has promised to help us through them.
A distressed person is a helpless person if the stress is great enough. It leaves one open to Satan's snares (Ephesians 6:11 KJV). So be swift to turn your back on it and look up Scripture verses that pertain to it (Isaiah 41:10). Hang onto Our Awesome God's promises of help. Look for that silver lining that God has provided for you. Pray; as the greater distress you have, the deeper you get into Satan's territory. So run to our Father God who loves you, bringing your requests to His throne and seek His power for relief. Jesus Christ has the power on Earth not man.
Then as you take each of those specific promises of God, claim them as yours and turn away from your stress. Lean on Our Awesome God and you will find your faith is stronger, your trust is greatly improved, you are ready to depend on Him to overcome your distress and peace is slowly taking it away. Now you can think more clearly and, with Our Awesome God helping you, Satan will flee.
We need to remember in times of stress and doubt that God has a plan, a purpose, for each of us and the power to give us help when we need it. But you have to ask and believe. Look always for that silver lining in the clouds for it is there. Once you overcome your distress with God's help, the second time is easier. You will know what to do and you will know that it will be overcome by Our Awesome God.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church in the Sanctuary this coming Sunday at 10:30 AM. We also have Bible Study on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have an hour of Bible Study and AWANA clubs for children which go until 7:30 PM. Our programs are varied but we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High."
(Psalms 9:1, 2 KJV)
How often do we dwell on the negatives in our lives? Most people can tell you in detail how bad they feel and how much someone has offended them. Do these complaints creep into your prayers as they do into mine? The "Lord's Prayer" reminds us that this is Our Awesome God's kingdom and it is His Will that should be done. How about some prayer to lean on Him for relief?
We tell God about our leg cramps and how bad they are and we ask Our Awesome God to stop them. Then the thought may come to some that, some people are unable to feel their legs at all, and you wonder what God thinks of your whining about cramps. But it does help to tell Him about it as expressing it to someone who understands always helps. He already knows what you are thinking and enduring. So just when does the asking for help turn into whining? Perhaps it is when the problem doesn't immediately go away and our faith slips a little that we start whining. Remember that God always answers prayers, but in His time not ours and He has a purpose for allowing your discomfort to continue. So praise Him and thank Him for using you, for the strength to endure and for the relief He will soon provide!
Our Awesome God hears everyone's prayers all over the world, so what must He think of whining (negative) prayers when other people are in so much pain and more problems than we? We need to count our blessings and realize how fortunate we are. He might even be teaching us to be grateful for the blessings we have. Instead of whining or complaining, just praise God and thank Him for each blessing you can name. As you do, the importance of your complaint will fade and your love for God will grow. But really, God knows what we know and where we need to understand more. Earth is a training ground for heaven, so we need to start learning.
In the Book of Revelation, scripture tells us that praising and giving thanks will become a large part of our lives so we should start being grateful to God now. Maybe in heaven, we can see and know enough to understand why Our Awesome God used certain things to increase our strength, our perseverance and our endurance. This ought to change our negative thoughts to positive thoughts about our problems. We should be praising the Lord for all He does because it is only to improve us. He loves us! Praise the Lord!
Be positive not negative! Praise the Lord! Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Our programs include Bible Study groups along with AWANA for children on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Wednesday at 7:00 PM is Prayer Requests and Bible Study. Let's see what we can do and learn!
"And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei... So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land."
(Numbers 21:33, 35 KJV)
“Bashan was an area north of Gilead and east of the Jordan River and it stretched to the slopes of mount Hermon to the north but really had no definite boundary. It went from the Jordan River on the east again to no definite boundaries on the west. So Bashan included the fertile, wooded slopes of Jebel Ed-Druze, the very rich plain of el-Chauran, the rocky tract of el-Leja', the region now known as el-Jedur, which resembles the Chauran in character, but less well cultivated. It, also, includes the breezy uplands of el-Jaulan with its wonderful reaches of pasture land. It was a land of rich, great cities, as the existing ruins testify”. (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, http://www.bible-history.com/isbe/B/BASHAN/)
Moses and the Israelites defeated King Og of the Amorites in a battle led by God and killed all the people in about 60 cities before they came to the Jordan River. Later this land, known as Bashan, was given to the half tribe of Menassah as their possession and it became a part of Israel for many years. Our Awesome God had provided this land for His people and they kept a part of it until the Syrian Wars (1 Kings 22:3). King Jeroboam II regained it briefly (2 Kings 14:25). Then it was incorporated into the Assyrian Empire (2 Kings 15:25-29). Today it is part of Gilead.
God provided them with the best, as Bashan was known for the oak trees on its mountains and the strength of its bulls. Today that area is known for its wheat crops. Our Awesome God always provides the best for us, His Children, but we forget, like the Israelites, to say "Thank You" to our God. Don't take for granted what you have today. Remember to Thank God for what He provides.
Join a church (if you haven't already) that prays often and loves our God. His son, Jesus Christ, died for you and took your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. Again Our Awesome God is providing for you a way to get to heaven. He loves you!! Praise the Lord!
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM). Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children which goes until 7:30 PM (September through May). Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) we have Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. When you come, ask about the home Bible studies during the week and the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
