"But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; ...
(2 Corinthians 6:4-5 KJV)
As we look at these words written by Paul, we should realize that it is usually in the midst of these problems and situations that we can discover whether we are good servants of Our Awesome God or not. If we read carefully all of 2 Corinthians 6, we should ask ourselves which of these virtues we need to work on first.
If we start and look at just the conditions mentioned in verses 4 and 5, we can see that, if the circumstances included a need for more patience, ours can be increased by our problems, if we keep with our Christian teachings and even if our patience is stretched tight before it is released. Our Awesome God shows us if patience is still a problem for us, whether we need to keep working with it or if it is time to work on another virtue. But, with God's help, we will have learned more about our own abilities.
Our problems may be afflictions, which could be common to all (Job 5:7; 14:1; Psalms 34:19), are for the good of men (James 1:2) and for the glory of God (2 Corinthians 12:7-10; 1 Peter 4:14). These are to be borne with patience by the Lord's people (Psalms 94:12). So the afflictions can be many and with varied problems that could include anything from Job's problems in Job 5:7 to leprosy.
We need to remember that, as servants of God, we should handle these problems and situations, such that we learn better what to do, that it increases our knowledge and it glorifies Our Awesome God. This notifies those around us that we are God's children. In this way, at least part of God's purpose is met since we never know all of His purposes. As servants of God, Christians need to meet the spiritual as well as the physical needs of those around them. Check yourself: Are you a servant of God? Are there areas you could improve?
If we can improve any area of our lives, we should strive for the improvement so we can become the best servant we can be. We represent a perfect God even though we can never be perfect while on earth, we need to try.

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."
(Psalms 27:14 KJV)
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
(Jeremiah 33:3 KJV)
Life is full of decisions we must make. Our Awesome God has promised to help us make wise decisions. He wants us to ask Him, being as detailed as we can, while letting Him make the final decision. If you don't intend to follow God's advice, don't ask Him, because He will know you won't do as He advises. It is always a good idea to find what the Bible says on your subject. You need to see how God usually answers a request such as yours. Pray about it! Then prepare yourself because Our Awesome God wants you to ask so He can answer.
There are several things to do: 1) Confess all your sins you haven't already asked God to forgive (1 John 1:9), 2) submit yourself to His decision (1 Peter 5:6), 3) believe that God will give you your request (Mark 11: 22), 4) Ask according to His will for your request to be done (1 John 5:14-15) and then 5) wait for His answer, it will come
but we don't know when. Be sure to thank Him and praise Him for His answer!
Our Awesome God wants to guide you through the snares of life on earth. That is why He put you here. God put that snare there or allowed it to be there for a purpose, to help you. When God answers, you should feel great peace and confidence in knowing God is guiding you. It is possible that no one else will agree with your decision but, if you did what God told you - what does it matter what others think? If He says it, do it, just be sure He answered and it is not your own wants. God knows what will work best.
The ultimate purpose we should be seeking is Our Awesome God guiding us in every decision we make for all eternity. We need His wisdom, His knowledge, His mercy for all, His grace, His patience, His faithfulness and His love. When we get His guidance, we know we are doing what He wants and that He will have the correct way for us to go. Praise Him and thank Him!
LWBC is a loving, church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church in the Sanctuary this coming Sunday at 10:30 AM. We also have Bible Study on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Sunday evening at 6:00 PM with a children's program called AWANA until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
"And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."
(Exodus 19:6 KJV)
Have you read your Bible from cover to cover? If you have, then you know that our God is Awesome and He always has a purpose or mission to accomplish in what and how He does anything. Have you stopped to think about what God's mission was in putting us on a new planet called earth and providing us with all we need to live and multiply? The Bible tells us but we get so interested in all the things God tells us to do, be and say along with all the stories about our forefathers that we don't really comprehend or focus on His mission.
Let's divide God's mission up according to the Holy Bible in which He tells what His Mission is. We can see, at least, three ways it could divided: 1) The mission of God in the Old Testament. It is explained in Exodus 19:6 and Isaiah 52:7-10, where God explains that He intended for Israel to show His salvation to the ends of the earth. 2) The mission of God in the New Testament is explained in Matthew 28:18-20, 1Peter 2:9 and Romans 10:14-15. This is where God is Awesome as He explains that He desires that we reach the world for Christ. 3) The mission of God in the last days is explained in Revelation 5:9 and Revelation14:6. In these Scriptures God tells us His plan is to reach every people group on the face of the earth so that they can choose to make Our Awesome God their God or not.
This is why we see Paul start on missionary journeys to the cities and peoples of his time. The Church at Philippi is only one such example in the Bible, of God reaching out to a group of people not in Israel. (Revelation 1:7) God strengthened Paul for this work and Paul spent his life following Christ's example of telling everyone about God and Jesus Christ. Can we do the one thing Our Awesome God desires: that all should know about His Son, Jesus Christ, and His saving power?
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday. At 9:30 AM, we have small group Bible Studies and at 10:30 AM, we meet in the sanctuary for Worship Service. Sunday evening at 6:00 PM we have Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study. We love visitors!
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
(John 14:27 KJV)
"Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed."
(Exodus 23:12 KJV)
Nothing that is done is done without a purpose. Our Awesome God created the solar systems by command to make us a home and all of nature responded with detail and precision to have them work perfectly. So when God commands, "thou shalt rest," He has a purpose for resting. What does rest mean to you? Is it the calm before the storm? Is it physical or spiritual rest?
There are three types of "rest" that are talked about in the Bible and that should be mentioned at this time, 1) physical rest that was commanded in Exodus 23:12, 2) peaceful love that was promised in John 14:27 and 3) "My rest" that is a reward in Hebrews 3:11. #1 Can and should be experienced by both Christians and non-Christians while #2 & #3 can be experienced only by the Christians.
#1 is a commandment given by Our Awesome God for all to take time to "rest" and worship Him. This commandment, if not followed, can make the person not doing it sick. We all need physical rest. #2 is promised to the man that faithfully follows Jesus' commandments and it is a warm, loving process for those that know Our Awesome God. And #3 is a reward for believing in Jesus Christ and God, it is an eternal home in heaven.
What kind of rest is God offering us? In all cases, rest is a relief from work. In #1, it is rest on earth from physical labor and in #2, it is rest on earth from the spiritual stresses of our work. But when Our Awesome God says, "enter into My Rest," (#3) He is referring to being with Him in heaven, where our work on earth is over and the state of rest may be permanent. But to receive #3 you must be a Christian.
Our Awesome God accepts anyone who realizes that they are sinning and is ready to stop sinning and do it God's way. Come, tell Him your sins and that you are ready to stop. All Christians have confessed, because only our Lord can get rid of sin for you. Don't wait! A Christian is just a saved sinner. Become a Christian by repenting of those sins and believing in Christ's ability to pay your sin debt.
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. There are many opportunities to learn about God in our programs. See what you can do!
"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph."
(Psalms 47:1 KJV)
Our Awesome God should be worshipped with joy and gladness in our hearts. The purpose of worship is to glorify, honor, praise, exalt, and please God. Our worship must show our adoration and loyalty to God for His grace in providing us with the way to escape the bondage of sin, so we can have the salvation He wants to give us.
Worship is a time when we pay deep, sincere, awesome respect, love, and fear to Our Awesome God, the one who created us. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;" (Acts 17:24-25 KJV).
Our worship not only honors and magnifies Our Awesome God, but it is also for our own knowledge and strength. Worship helps us become more God-like and Christ-like in our character. We will become like those we admire and worship. When we worship God we tend to value what God values and slowly take on the characteristics and qualities of God, though never to His level.
While we worship God, we start developing such traits as forgiveness, tenderness, justice, righteousness, purity, kindness, and love. Worshipping is slowly preparing us for eternal life in heaven with God and Jesus Christ. As we are told, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2 KJV)
Our Awesome God has a purpose for all He does for us while we are on earth, preparing us for heaven and eternal life. So your worship of God should be with a heart focused on Him, remembering His goodness, giving Him our love, praise and respect. Be glad and happy that He is your Father and that He loves you. Worship Him! His eternal home for Christians is Heaven.
Our church is a loving church that wants to help others to a better understanding of Our Awesome God and His love, mercy and grace for all of mankind. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we love others while preaching and teaching from our Holy Bible about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Our church has a Bible Study at 9:30 AM on Sunday and Worship Service at 10:30 AM and then at 6:00 PM there is another Bible Study along with a children's program called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM. We love visitors!
"And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him."
(Genesis 4:8 KJV)
Cain and Abel were the sons of Adam and Eve, born after they were evicted from the Garden of Eden by Our Awesome God. Cain, like his parents, sinned against God. Cain killed his brother, he lied about it to God and he never felt sorry he had done these things. So Cain roamed his part of the world building cities until he died.
Why did Our Awesome God have this situation included in His Holy Bible? God always has a purpose for man's good. Here are a few things that we should remember: 1) God always warns us and even offers a way for us to escape (Genesis 4:6-7), 2) what we do is an outward statement of our thoughts (Genesis 4:8-9), 3) punishment does not mean that we repent of our sin (Genesis 4:13) and 4) the world is not the real Judge, God is (Genesis 4:11-12). God does all the above because He loves you. Sin brings consequences to the sinner.
Cain's grain offering was not what God required for a sin offering and Cain knew it. It was unacceptable because his heart was not broken and repentant toward the things he had done wrong. This is a problem that Our Awesome God knows since He knows every thought you have. We need to realize that our lack of repentance put stripes on Jesus Christ's back and created more humiliation for our Creator and Savor, even as Cain's did.
This is where we need to look at our own lives. Are we sorry for what we've done wrong and are we willing to do or try to do better? If not, don't bring it to Our Awesome God. He will know you aren't repentant. He will know if you will really try to stop sinning. God warns you and offers a way out of your problem. He loves you. No one loves you as God does! Repent, then seek God!
Learn more about Our Awesome God by reading His Holy Bible, praying to Him and worshipping in a church which preaches and teaches the Holy Bible. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM and at 6:00 PM for Bible Study. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. First, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your creator and Savior. We can show you how from the Word of God and we love visitors.
"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;"
(Matthew 26:26-27 KJV)
We know that Our Awesome God does all things for a good purpose, so why did Jesus, on the same night Judas betrayed Him, start the ordinance of communion? He was showing us His coming death on the cross, with the necessary blood, and it shows His love for us. Communion is a great way to picture and remember the awful humbling death with shed blood that Jesus endured for us. It teaches about how great His love for us is and, with the right words, it helps us to renew our commitment to Jesus Christ each time we have communion. No greater gift has ever been given to man since creation.
This is a wonderful teaching tool for all children of Our Awesome God and other children, but communion also focuses our attention on Jesus Christ, which is very important. Focusing our lives on Jesus is the way to keep our lives producing good results for Him. The world tries to keep Him out of most history books but Christians know that He is the central figure in life itself. Be sure you put Him as the main figure in your life!
When observing communion, we take time to examine ourselves: "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup." (1 Corinthians 11:28 KJV) In observing communion, we are proclaiming His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith: "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 11:27 KJV) It is important that we take time to check ourselves for unconfessed sins and ask Our Awesome God to bring them to our attention so we can ask forgiveness for them.
Come join us at our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We have communion once a quarter as a definite time was not set in the Bible to do it.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study.
