"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
(Matthew 5:3 KJV)
It is important that we have a good working knowledge of the word DENIAL. Celebrate Recovery, a Christian based program, has a small guide book that uses this definition: "a false system of beliefs that are not based on reality; self-protecting behavior that keeps us from honestly facing the truth." If we keep this in mind and we revue what we have done, thought and/or said, can we honestly say we are always aware of the truth. Are we honest with others and ourselves? Before we can start getting rid of our defective character traits, we must admit, realize and face our denial of them. We know we aren't happy with them and Our Awesome God is not pleased with them. In fact, we are getting uncomfortable because we can't control or manage them all the time.
We need to get rid of our denial because energy is lost and it disables our feelings, it negates growth, it isolates us from Our Awesome God, it alienates us from our relationships and it lengthens the pain. This is all explained in the Celebrate Recovery program and how to use the Beatitudes for the principles of recovery from your hurts, hang-ups and habits with God's help. But we all have our character defects that we need to get rid of.
In order to start recovery, we must realize we are not Our Awesome God. We must admit that alone, we are powerless to control our tendency to do the wrong thing and that our life is unmanageable. "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not." (Romans 7:18 KJV). Once we realize this truth and that we need help from others who will hold us accountable and have Jesus Christ helping us, we are ready to start on our road to recovery.
Come join us at our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ, died for you and took your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. This gives you your chance to join a program like Celebrate Recovery and get rid of those hurts, hang-ups and habits which are sins and keeping you from maturing as Christians. Come join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour along with a program for children called AWANA which goes until 7:30 PM. We have a Prayer Meeting and Bible Study that meets at 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."
(1 John 1:3 KJV)
Prayer is fellowship with greater understanding of God. Your prayers should become so varied that soon you will have a relationship that varies. At times, you will just praise and adore Him. At other times, you will ask Our Awesome God for something that you really want Him to give you. Sometimes, when you think about your prayer you realize, it was one of Father and child and, at other times, it was disciple to teacher. Your relationship to God will change and hopefully mature as you learn more from the Creator of all.
As your prayers change, though, so will your relationship with God. There are about five basic forms that your prayers usually fall under, but many different ways you will phrase them. 1) The form that most prayers will fall under is adoration, 2) The next form is Intercession, 3) Another form is petition, 4) Still another form is repentance, and 5) The last is deliverance. There are three attitudes that should be present in all these prayers: dependence, earnestness and persistence.
In all the forms of prayer mentioned, we align our thinking with Our Awesome God remembering His love and purpose are for our good and remain completely open to Him. We must remain identified with God and that brings our thoughts in alignment with His. Whichever form we use to pray, we will soon realize that His purposes, no matter what the circumstances may be, are the right ones. Prayer is fellowship with Our Awesome God that, as we tell Him our thoughts and petitions, grows into a close relationship and love for Him. We know that He is our Father and is right in guiding us through this earthly life, because He loves us and wants us to mature.
Our Awesome God wants your prayers because He wants a closer relationship with you, His child! Join a church (if you haven't already) that prays often and loves our God. His son, Jesus Christ, died for you and took your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. So learn more about this Only God by praying. Praise the Lord!
