"Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son".
(Deuteronomy 7:3 KJV)
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? "
(2 Corinthians 6:14 KJV)
There are very few things of more importance to the Christian than the unequal yoke and yet very little is said or preached about it because we don't want to offend people. If we ignore it, it won't go away. While unequally yoked may refer to a business partner or several other close relationships, it needs to start in the home, teaching your children to look for a spouse among those who are of the same faith and belief in Jesus Christ as they are. Teach your children to get to really know their future spouse by meeting them and their families together and separately. Can you live happily with this person, their habits, their personality and their religious beliefs?
We want fewer divorces, fewer separations of parents, less arguments between parents and better parenting skills shown by parents. While being married to a spouse who believes in Our Awesome God as you do is no guarantee that the above will happen, it is one less obstacle your marriage will have to overcome. God does not want us influenced by this sinful world by living closely and intimately with nonbelievers. Because it will lead to one of you changing religions (do you really believe in the change?), leaving a void in your life if you leave Christ out, arguments and possibly divorce.
Usually if you check out the possible spouse carefully, including religion, and take inventory of possible problems, you can overcome some if not all mistakes. Our Awesome God wants your home and your life to be a happy one. He loves you!
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior.
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA running until 7:30 PM. (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and Bible Study along with a separate Spanish Bible Study until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
