"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;"
(Matthew 26:26-27 KJV)
We know that Our Awesome God does all things for a good purpose, so why did Jesus, on the same night Judas betrayed Him, start the ordinance of communion? He was showing us His coming death on the cross, with the necessary blood, and it shows His love for us. Communion is a great way to picture and remember the awful humbling death with shed blood that Jesus endured for us. It teaches about how great His love for us is and, with the right words, it helps us to renew our commitment to Jesus Christ each time we have communion. No greater gift has ever been given to man since creation.
This is a wonderful teaching tool for all children of Our Awesome God and other children, but communion also focuses our attention on Jesus Christ, which is very important. Focusing our lives on Jesus is the way to keep our lives producing good results for Him. The world tries to keep Him out of most history books but Christians know that He is the central figure in life itself. Be sure you put Him as the main figure in your life!
When observing communion, we take time to examine ourselves: "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup." (1 Corinthians 11:28 KJV) In observing communion, we are proclaiming His death until He comes. It is, then, a statement of faith: "Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 11:27 KJV) It is important that we take time to check ourselves for unconfessed sins and ask Our Awesome God to bring them to our attention so we can ask forgiveness for them.
Come join us at our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We have communion once a quarter as a definite time was not set in the Bible to do it.
LWBC is a loving church who tries to live by Biblical principles while encouraging all its members. Join us for church this coming Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study. We have Worship Service in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM and Sunday evening Bible Study at 6:00 PM along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. Our programs are varied but we teach and preach from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. We love visitors!
"Turn thou us unto thee, O Lord, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
(Lamentations 5:21 KJV)
When we are working and we make a mistake, we usually just try to correct it or make it error free, or we may apologize for making it. Some of these choices are better than others but the best is to ask of the Lord for wisdom to correct it (James 3:17). Think of your mistake as an opportunity to improve on what you are doing and start thinking, "What did I do wrong? What could I have done that would have been better?" Start using our mistakes to correct what we do wrong in our lives. Continue trying to find ways to improve on what you are doing, it is far better than even correcting our mistakes. Pray for wisdom from God. What we need to do is to turn our mistakes into "gifts"--"gifts" for Our Awesome God.
Whatever we do, we tend to do the same thing with our sins that we do with our "mistakes". Before we decide which way to go with our sins, we need to remember that Our Awesome God doesn't throw us away or hide us. He helps us with our corrections. He redeems us and shows us the best way to handle our sins and "mistakes". Prayer will help and give you the answer but take the time to hear His answer. What would our Lord suggest? Don't add to your one "mistake" with another "mistake", find the correct answer (James 1:5-8).
The "mistake" in your life can have life changing consequences. Remember Paul on the Damascus Road. He turned his life around with God's help and worked the way God wanted. In spite of Paul's history of persecuting Christians, Our Awesome God used him to spread the gospel around the world and to save many more from their lives of sin than he had persecuted for being a Christian (Acts 9:3-6).
The really important thing is not the "mistake" but that you know Jesus Christ and that you ask Him to help. Yes, correct the "mistakes" and make it better if you can, but make your life better because of those "mistakes".
If you need to learn something, Our Awesome God may use a "mistake" to help you see a problem and find the best answer for it. God also can use a "mistake" to make your life more productive and you a better Christian. Actually, Our Awesome God wants you to become free of those "mistakes". He loves you and offers you plenty of help correct your "mistakes".
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 10:30 AM for worship and caring from our church of Christians. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
