"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV)
We all want to improve, to become better and to see our progress toward that goal that (for me) Our Awesome God has set and we want it to be a steady improvement. We may want, possibly, an improvement in our being kind to others, an increase in the amount of love we show others, we may want an improvement in our fruits of the spirit, and/or just to be good to others all the time.
Most of us try improving or changing things by ourselves but this either works for only a short time or doesn't work at all. We find ourselves in deeper than before we started and, therefore, usually find it harder to break that bad habit and improve. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be with us to help us and we need to use Him. And praying helps get Our Awesome God involved in helping and providing ideas to help you overcome those unwanted habits that need improving. We should believe "...If God is for us who can stand against us?"(Romans 8:31 KJV) Our God is in the business of improving His children and preparing them for heaven and eternity.
Improving takes time, determination and help from Our Awesome God. It rarely happens over night but it requires a determination on your part and help from the Holy Trinity to really improve. If you do it by yourself, you will decide you did it and you can do it again (pride) without help. Now you are in trouble. You have a lot of improving to do!
The amount of time it will take you to improve depends upon you. Just like when you were saved, you need to realize you have a problem you can't solve by yourself and ask for Our Awesome God to help you. Then really turn the problem over to Him without guilt or excuses on our part, following His leading after repenting and confessing it. He loves you, His child! Improving is important because none of us is perfect yet.
Our Awesome God accepts anyone who realizes that they are sinning and is ready to stop sinning and do it God's way. Come tell Him just as you are. All Christians have, because only our Lord can get rid of sin for you permanently. Don't wait!
Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Praise/Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
"And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? "
(Luke 18:7, 8 KJV)
"God's timing is not ours to command. If we do not start the fire with the first strike of our match, we must try again. God does hear our prayer, but He may not answer it at the precise time we have appointed in our own minds. Instead, He will reveal Himself to our seeking hearts, though not necessarily when and where we may expect. Therefore we have a need for perseverance and steadfast determination in our life of prayer.
"In the old days of flint, steel and brimstone matches, people had to strike the match again and again, perhaps even dozens of times, before they got a spark to light their fire, and they were very thankful if they finally succeeded. Should we not exercise the same type of perseverance and hope regarding heavenly things? When it comes to faith, we have more certainty of success than we could ever have had with flint and steel, for we have God's promises as a foundation.
"May we, therefore, never despair. God's time for mercy will come -- in fact, it already has come, if our time for believing has arrived. Ask in faith without wavering, but never cease to petition the King simply because He has delayed His reply. Strike the match again and make the sparks fly. Yet be sure to have your tinder ready, for you will get a fire before long." Written by Charles H. Spurgeon in Streams in the Desert on page 430 of the 1997 edition by L. B. Cowman and published by Zondervan.
The above comment expresses encouragement we should have as we pray to Our Awesome God and His wonderful Son, Jesus Christ, and don't get immediate answers. Continue praying, for our God's time is not the same as ours but He will answer every prayer. The answer will be a "Yes, later, now, wait, or no". But He will answer! Just not always the way you might want. He uses your prayers together with His knowledge and wisdom to fulfill those prayers.
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM) Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children which goes until 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. When you come, ask about the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
"Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed."
(Hebrews 12:12-13 KJV)
"This verse is Our Awesome God's Word of encouragement to us to lift the hands of faith and to fortify the knees of prayer. All too often our faith becomes tired, weak and listless, and our prayers lose their power and effectiveness." Written by Maltbie D. Babcock for the June 18 devotional readings, pg. 237 in Streams in the Desert by L. B. Cowman. Zondervan 1997.
Our Awesome God wants us to realize that we need to be strong, to get what we do right, to get bold but to watch out as we go spreading God's Word to all we meet. It sounds like He might be training us but warning us that it won't be easy for us. It takes strong faith and much prayer to keep going when others seem to quit trying to do it God's way.
Our Awesome God has given us many reasons to be strong in the Lord and put off our discouragement in previous verses (Hebrews 12:1-11), so now it is time to do it. Realize He wants you strong and committed to doing the evangelizing His way and in His time giving Him the glory. Are you ready? Because the picture in the verse, "feeble knees," speaks of an area that is first to go when one surrenders to discouragement. Are you ready to move using those knees and work for our Lord?
Like the military services, Our Awesome God is "looking for a few good men". Are you able to keep going when the going gets tough? Are you one of the "few good men"? It is not the time to quit His Service but to look forward to what He has promised will happen next. When discouragement strikes, read and think about Abraham, Moses and missionaries such as Dr. Livingston in Africa and Lottie Moon, who tried to evangelize China. We will not win all battles spiritual, emotional or physical, but know that every battle, win or lose, contributes to Our Awesome God’s ultimate total victory.
Read Our Awesome God's Holy Bible at least once daily. Study the whole scripture to discover the truth. There can be no contradiction in His Word. Attend one of His churches (not a cult) that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. God loves you!
