"For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye... So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."
(Deuteronomy 32:9 -10, 12 KJV)
Jacob had many difficulties, often of his own making, as recorded in Genesis chapters 27 to 37. But he was faithful to Our Awesome God, who had chosen him to become the father of His chosen people and protected him and helped him overcome all of his difficulties.
Our Awesome God is also our parent. In order to teach us a necessary truth, He will lead us to the problem and push us into solving it. We forget He is right there watching and, if we ask, He will help us. We may not realize that when we, with His help, have solved the problem, we will possess an inexplicable power and confidence that we can acquire only through doing it with His help.
God may take away your comfortable life and privileges so that you will be a stronger Christian. He may be pushing you to learn how to handle certain difficulties, to realize your strengths and weaknesses in a situation and to remember that, when Our Awesome God puts you in a difficult position, He will be there to rescue you if needed. But some things in life have to be experienced so that you will have a stronger faith in God and the knowledge of what is at least a good way out that honors God.
We often say that we are having difficulties or even that Satan is bothering us but it may just be Our Awesome God making us more mature Christians. He loves us and wants us able to handle most situations, as any father would. He has a purpose and a job for you to do in life as well as in heaven. Are you confident that God and you can handle any difficulty?
If you are not confident that Our Awesome God and you can handle all your difficulties then get ready for more testing. Most of the human race needs many problems to teach him or her to solve problems in God's way: asking our Lord to help. Praise the Lord for difficulties!
Becoming confident and trusting in Our Lord needs to start with your becoming a Christian if you aren't. Then check the Bible to realize all the laws you have broken and that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man to save you from having to pay for breaking those laws. A Christian is just a saved sinner. Become a Christian by repenting of those sins and accepting Our Awesome God's gift of life.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:19 KJV)
"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
(Psalms 37:25 KJV)
A good definition of Needs would be: anything without which a person cannot live or function to his maximal ability in the tasks to which God has called him or her. (Paraphrased from Easton's Bible Dictionary). Our Awesome God is committed to meeting your needs. He has always done what He said He would do (Genesis 17:16-17). He is unchanging and faithful (Hebrews 13:8). God created all things and all things belong to Him (Genesis 1:1), so He is more than rich enough to provide all the necessary things for His people.
So why do you feel that your "needs" aren't all being met? Most of the time, the real needs are taken care of but there are other things included that you want badly but can do without. We call these "wants" and they are often difficult to separate from the needs.
So let's look at specific needs as defined above. Basic individual needs are: food, water, shelter, clothing, some form of transportation and some have special medical needs. Everyone needs these just for survival.
Our Awesome God has given us responsibilities and tasks that generate needs under specific circumstances. We are to pay our debts (Psalm 37:21) and taxes (Romans 13:6-7). We must provide for our families (1st Timothy 5:8). We are to be involved with teaching the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20).
All of these may generate needs that often are unique to the individual and Our Awesome God has promised to supply them all. But He doesn't say when and He wants you to ask Him for each one so you will clearly see His provision. Sometimes our wants sneak into our needs. You may ask for a new minivan for your family transportation need and receive an old microbus.
Probably most people in our society have more wants than needs. Sometimes the desire is so strong that it honestly feels like a need. But apply the definition and be honest: can I live and function without it? If so, then it is probably just a want. That doesn't say you can't have any wants! It's OK to ask God for your wants. He will often give them to you if it won't tempt you or hurt you, because He loves you.
God wants you to realize He loves you and would never harm you. Our Awesome God wants you to trust Him with your needs as well as all other aspects of your life. It takes giving all yourself to God, not just part of you, but a complete surrender to God who loves you unconditionally. Praise the Lord! See you in church.
LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV) Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and how to teach others from His Holy Bible. "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is... Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name."
(Psalms 63:1, 4 KJV)
How do you praise the Lord? How often do you praise the Lord? Do you lift your arms toward heaven to praise the Lord? Praising the Lord, Our Awesome God, means you are praying (talking) to Him and it seems a natural thing to praise Him at times and to lift your arms toward heaven. When we do this, it is a sign of our reverence, our adoration and our surrender to God. The lifting of arms toward heaven was used in some of the sacrifices the Israelites offered to God such as the one David writes about in Psalms 141:2.
You know by this act of lifting your arms, you are surrendering to Our Awesome God and giving Him your trust. He will take control and things will proceed as God knows they should. And you, you will feel a deep peace because it is no longer a problem that you are trying to control, it is God's to do His way. But God wants you to tell Him that you want help. That you trust Him! So lift up those arms and praise Him. Tell Him how wonderful He is. You'll love the results!
Occasionally there are some people in a church who have never lifted their arms, never put their total trust in Our Awesome God and never just worshipped Him by surrendering it all to Him. These people can get a little emotional, especially the first time they release all those emotions they have harbored for years and give control into God's Hands. Love these people! They are our Lord's children and our siblings. Praise our God any way you want because He will know what you are feeling and what you are expressing. Amen!
You can never praise Our Awesome God too much. Think of all He has done from creating you, to forgiving you, to sending Jesus Christ to be a sacrifice for your sins and then adopting you into His Family when you become a Christian. He wants only the best for you. Praise His Holy Name!

" And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth."
(Genesis 11:3-4 KJV)
The archeological finds of the Near East tell a story of man's slow advancement in knowledge as Our Awesome God met their needs one at a time. As the need for something became apparent God's helping Hand allowed man to look for and find an answer. God was there to help man when the need was great but we have no idea on how long it took to discover each step toward the creation of something new. Archeology continues to make discoveries of different objects.
The Cradle of Civilization was in Mesopotamia where the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers have a very fertile valley that caused people to congregate before there were cities. These people slowly grouped together over time to protect their possessions and their lives from other smaller bands of people. Cities were formed around the fertile rivers and were fortified. Traders came with goods from other places to water and feed their livestock near these rivers. They traded with the people in these cities such as Ararat and Babylon. The Babylonians liked trading so they increased the wheat, flax, fruit and vegetables they grew so they could sell the extra. Soon they needed larger buildings to store the produce so they invented bricks, buildings and wheels. The Babylonians invented an irrigation system for those crops that grew a long way away from the river. Our Awesome God created man, all the plants and animals and man's brain and monitored his progress through the ages, helping him invent.
The Hand of God has always been and always will be on man, helping him with all things that keep him living. Man needs to put his pride aside and realize he can do nothing without God. We all need to realize that Our Awesome God created this complete world which includes our minds and give Him the glory for His inventions and ideas.
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and Worship Service at (10:30 AM) Then again Sunday evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children going until 7:30 PM. Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) there is Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. When you come, ask about the choir and Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?"
(Matthew 6:27 KJV)
Think of the above scripture carefully for a few minutes for Our Awesome God had Jesus say it for a purpose. We are not a relaxed society. We are always rushing and trying too hard to be better than we have been. Jesus, when He said the Scripture above, might have been thinking about some little boys, wanting to be bigger than they were, with bursting cheeks and bulging eyes as they tried to grow bigger. But He was speaking to the adults about the folly of it all. The bigger would come if it was to be but we can't make it happen because we want it. Live relaxed. You might even live longer if you relax.
A very gifted musician said that her teacher insisted that every muscle must be relaxed, so that her very soul could come into her fingertips to play her best. This is mastery. Some people live spiritually that way. They let the very power of Jesus Christ into every cell of their body. Oh, it is so relaxing. But so hard for some to do and so effective if they accomplish it.
Jesus Christ was so relaxed that the power of Our Awesome God had an unhindered channel within Him. Spiritual relaxation means spiritual release. The machinery of life can be oiled by the peace of Our Awesome God so that it runs without friction. But we need to lean on God and Jesus Christ to take care of the problems and cares of life. The best way to relax is to allow Jesus to take your problems from you. You will not do a better job at work all tense and tight trying to do a better job than someone else. Relax! Pray! Study the situation to make things run smoother and do your best to do it in the best way, God's way. But when problems arise, stop and pray quietly for Our Awesome God's help with the problem. He has the best answers. He wants the best for you!
Try "Being Relaxed" for three weeks and see if you can make it a habit. See me in church this week and tell me how your "Being Relaxed" is progressing. Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Our programs include Bible Study groups along with AWANA for children on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Let's see what we can do and learn!
"Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow."
(Isaiah 50:10-11 KJV)
This is a dire warning Our Awesome God had Isaiah proclaim for those who know about God but do not trust in the strong, steady light of His righteousness. Instead, they kindle or build a fire with airborne sparks and rely on the flickering light of their own righteousness. So light represents righteousness or trust in something. And the quality of the righteousness and its endurance depends on the source. (See Romans 10:3). It is nice to understand the symbology of the scripture but what does it mean?
There is a temptation to try to get out of our sin problem by ourselves using our own trust in ourselves. We got into it by ourselves (and usually some friends) so instead of asking the Lord to help us "kick the habit" of sinning, we try to do it by ourselves. We will be disappointed in our own "righteousness". We may try to find something to do or give up in atonement. We seek the light of the "logical" way and the advice of our friends and not the advice of Our Awesome God. We come to our own conclusions and may want to accept a false path of deliverance that is not our God's way, telling ourselves, "It is the best I can do."
Never try to get out of a situation until Our Awesome God is ready to let you out. He may be teaching more than one lesson you need to learn. Commit the entire situation to Him and learn what He is teaching. Most of all avoid interfering with Our Awesome God's plans and will for your life. If you touch any of God's plans you may mar them as your hands have sinned. Remember you can force a rosebud to open but you will mar the rose. Our Awesome God is worthy of your trust. If you will commit your problems to Him and wait for Him to do His best for you, it will bring you peace and the "fire" will slow up and often go out. God loves you in a way that no one else can --completely for your good. Join us in celebrating and praising Our Awesome God and His achievements for us.
Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell about Jesus. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Our programs include Bible Study along with AWANA for children on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM (September through May) . Let's see what we can do and learn!
"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."
(Deuteronomy 32:11-12 KJV)
Sometimes Our Awesome God reminds us of a parent bird, eager to show us what we can do. He takes us to a cliff and pushes us off into air so we can learn to "fly" by ourselves and He is there to catch us. If we were truly birds, we would already "know" by instinct how to move our "wings" and fly. Though we are not birds, God often pushes us into places we have never been so that we learn how to cope and gradually do better and better at the job while He waits to swoop in and rescue us if we need it. When Our Awesome God brings you into a perilous place, He is always there to rescue you and instruct you when you ask and trust Him.
Do you understand as a Christian that Our Awesome God may take away your feelings of comfort and your privileges in order to make you a stronger Christian? Do you see that God instructs His soldiers and children by not allowing them to lie at ease in bed but to go on difficult marches and service for Him? He makes them wade through streams, swim across rivers, climb steep mountains and walk long marches carrying their backpacks of sorrows. (But God will carry your sorrows if you ask Him.) This is how God develops and instructs soldiers and His children for His service. He knows that just dressing them up in proper clothes and giving them authority is not enough to make them strong, knowledgeable and wise in their jobs. It takes experience and action with instruction to make them ready to become His world leaders for Him.
Would this explain the situation you are in? Could Our Awesome God be uncovering your gifts and causing them to grow? Is He developing in you the qualities He needs in a leader? Are you ready for service with Our Awesome God? Learn the Bible and to pray to Him for help when you need it. Come join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we learn what God wants to teach us ---to fly His way in the job He has for you.
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday. If you are not yet a Christian, it is time that you should know and love Our Awesome God as your Creator and Savior. Join us at Living Word Baptist Church as we pray and worship Him this Sunday at 10:30 AM and at 6:00 PM for Bible Study along with AWANA for children (September through May). On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We love visitors!
