"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me".
(2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV)
The power of Christ in us is perfected in our weakness. Here we see another great paradox of the kingdom of Our Awesome God. In this passage, most Bible scholars believe the "weakness" Paul spoke of was a physical affliction of some kind—"a thorn in the flesh."
Few humans can overcome the pressures of life. All around us people want more from us at work, at play and at home. Is there a financial need? Is there a relationship in crisis? Are you on your knees yet to Our Awesome God? Because He says, "for my strength is made perfect in weakness." Lean on our all powerful God!
Regardless of your situation, whatever brings you to your knees in weakness has the greatest potential for your personal success and spiritual victory. So often we pray for strength, when in actuality what the Lord wants is for us to remain in our weakness, utterly dependent upon Him. We think our physical "thorns" will hinder us from serving the Lord, when in reality, the very opposite is true. They are perfecting us so that Christ's divine power can be revealed through the window of our human weakness.
Paul could have listed all his victories and/or accomplishments but instead he told of his weakness and credited the power to Our Awesome God, as we should do because God is our power and our strength. We then can lean on Him when we realize how weak we really are and give Him the glory!
Oft times Our Awesome God makes you aware of your weakness and lack of strength without Him so that you can be a witness for His strength. That fear, that lack of self confidence or that illness may make you realize you do things in His strength and wisdom not your own. Although your physical abilities may be severely limited, there is no limit to what you may accomplish using God’s strength which has no limit.
Attend our church or another near you that believes Jesus died, taking all your sins upon Himself, and arose the third day to sit at the right hand of God in Heaven. Our Awesome God wants you to be weak to remind you that God wants you to depend upon His awesome power and strength. He is waiting for you to ask. We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and evening (6:00 PM), and Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) with AWANA on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM. When you come, ask about the home Bible studies during the week and the Intercessory Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
"Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant."
(1 Kings 8:56 KJV)
The above Holy Scripture is taken from a prayer that King Solomon was praying before the congregation of Israel. It is an example of what we can do when we pray and are not sure that our prayer is in line with what Our Awesome God would want or we are having a problem getting a clear answer from Him. Look up God's Promises in the Bible and see if there is one that applies to what you are praying for? When you find one, point it out to God in prayer and pray earnestly as King Solomon did.
Every promise of Holy Scripture is a letter from God which we can plead with God saying, "Do as you promised." If it is not the right time or something is wrong, God will show you as you continue to pray. Our Awesome God will not renege on His promise because He cannot do wrong but our God also will never renege because He loves us and wants what is best for you and others. Remember it is always better to ask God for a few specific requests than to ask for ten vague requests. God often ends up showing something else about His promise that you did not realize or a problem you need to overcome.
Often Our Awesome God uses His Promises as a way of showing you a weakness or problem in your life, so that, if there is an area you are having trouble verbalizing or teaching about, be sure to look up His Promises that seem to apply. When you feel comfortable teaching in this area, then stop get a clean paper and try writing it smoothly. It usually works! Each of us who are Christians has a Spirit filled life in him that needs to be fed and watered with God's Promises.
Our Awesome God uses our praying and His Holy Word to get in intimate contact and communication with us to change our minds and let us know how He thinks about something (Romans 12:2 KJV). When we begin to use this method, we realize He has it all in His Hands, all in His purpose, and we can relax knowing that this gives us a chance to live that Spirit free life allowing God to show us His Glory!
God's Promises will enrich your life and give you a greater feeling of His wonderful love. LWBC is a Bible believing church that tries to live Jesus Christ's commandment to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12 KJV). Join us this Sunday as we learn more about Our Awesome God and teach others from His Holy Bible. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour and AWANA for children is held for 1½ hours. And there is more during the week. We love visitors!
