"For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not."
(Isaiah 30:15 KJV)
Though the Scripture verse above is God talking to Israel about going to Egypt to find help to overcome Babylon, we can apply it to our lives. We should be turning to Our Awesome God for help and not to just ourselves or other people. The Israelites were turning to Egypt not to God.
As a group of Americans and as individuals, those of us in the "human race" have a strong "do-it-yourself" mentality. Sometimes people get discouraged when they don't seem to succeed in life and stop trying, but most keep on struggling and won't reach out to Our Awesome God or others for help unless there is nowhere else to turn. We like to "triumph" on our own. But do we really "triumph" when we do this?
The real key in relation to God is - FAITH. Not just any faith, as in the slogan, "Ya' gotta' have faith, baby!" but instead it is trusting in Our Awesome God who will carry you to victory. This means to have faith in the Christ who can and will help you, rather than just having a warm hope that everything will turn out all right. Faith that, if we ask, remain quiet and wait with confidence, God will provide the strength and control needed for victory. When we rest and are quiet He is there for us, waiting for us to ask Him. So with faith we pray as we grow quiet and with confidence, God will give us the victory if it is best for everyone.
We must realize that we cannot do it in our own strength but we need to be quiet and, getting on our knees, we ask Our Awesome God to show us the way to victory...a victory that glorifies our God. He knows the way best way but waited for us to ask and realize that our winning is HIS victory and ultimately ours. It gives us a quiet and confident feeling to know He knows the best way and is powerful enough to make it happen. But we only really win when Our Awesome God gets the glory and victory. He made it happen to increase our confidence and growth in faith in Him. Praise the Lord!
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others and reminding ourselves about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour with a children's program called AWANA. There is more during the week such as Bible Studies in homes and Prayer meeting on Wednesday. We love visitors!
