"Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."
(Luke 24:7 KJV)
"Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils."
(Mark 16:9 KJV)
Be aware that "Easter" was not celebrated in America until the time of the Civil War when it came from Europe and was known as a pagan ceremony incorporated into the Roman Catholic Church. It was used in several different religions as a fertility ritual. The bunny rabbits and eggs (Ethel L. Urlin, Festival, Holy Days, and Saints Days, p. 73 or Albert Henry Newman, D.D., LL.D., A Manual of Church History, p. 299) with flowers are Anglo-Saxon in origin and not Christian.
Having stated the above, know that Our Awesome God's Holy Bible says that Jesus Christ was tried, condemned and crucified on a cross by sinful man at the time of the Jewish Passover around the time of Easter. Jesus was resurrected on a Sunday, "the first day of the week." (Matthew 28:1; Luke 24:1). We should remember and celebrate that resurrection every day and every time we enter His church. A special day should be set aside to celebrate His love for us and maybe it should be called EASTER. But should it be called Easter with eggs and rabbits? Or should we call it Resurrection Day? Or...?
Our Awesome God arose from the dead that day, appearing to over 500 people over the next 40 days before going to heaven. No other "god" has done this! We serve a risen Savior who has power over life and death, who is loving, merciful and just. We should celebrate every day that He is the Creator and Lord of all living and inanimate things, that He is God and that He understands us. And that He loved us enough to come earth to die for the sins we commit. Praise and celebrate our loving, living God!
If you don't know Our Awesome God, we would like you to join us as we learn more about Him and teach others about Him. We are trying to become more like Him as we await our time to join Him in heaven. We invite you to our three weekly church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) with Worship Service at (10:30 AM) and evening (6:00 PM) along with AWANA for children, and Wednesday evening Bible Study and Prayer Meeting (7:00 PM). When you come, ask about the Intercessory Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God!
