"Let them praise the Lord, for He commanded and they were created."
(Psalms 148:5 KJV)
"But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him..."
(Deuteronomy 4:28 KJV)
"Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord."
(Acts 11:22-23 KJV)
How do you encourage someone? Is it with praise? Adding your ideas on the subject helps people clarify and sometimes change their ideas but it also tells the person you are talking to that you are really listening. Or is your encouragement done by just listening only? As Jesus Christ, Our Awesome God spent His time listening to people. Usually you give encouragement to someone by praising and listening to them. There are many ways of encouraging. Try it!
Barnabas was an encourager in the New Testament. He used exhortation to encourage the church at Antioch and you can read more about him in Acts 4:36 and Acts 11:23-24. Without Barnabas, the apostle Paul might not have done all the missionary work he did. Our Awesome God has His encouragers in all of His churches.
There are times when it only takes a little word of encouragement, a verse from Our Awesome God's Holy Bible, a smile or a handshake to encourage a person. Occasionally, it takes "standing by" someone when he or she needs a little uplift or is having a hard time. We need to remember how important it is to encourage people at difficult times in their lives.
We all need and enjoy encouraging words when they are uplifting. So choose 2 or 3 people that need that encouraging word, handshake or even a smile and start encouraging. Start "thanking God" and praising Him when you pray! You will get to love it! Our Awesome God will enjoy your words and you may keep that smile on your face. Encourage anyone who is doing the right thing,
Come join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour and there is a program for children called AWANA until 7:30 PM. We have a Prayer Meeting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Learn with us how to use and invest your time with wisdom for Our Awesome God!
