"Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out."
(2 Kings 4:3-5 KJV)
The widow and her sons were to be alone with God as the prophet, Elisha, told them in the Bible verse above. They needed to realize that they weren't dealing with anyone but Our Awesome God; not Elisha, not the government, not a person of any kind. They needed to be set apart from anything that would cause them to focus on anyone but God. So they went in and closed the door!
Now, they were asking for a miracle of more oil in their vessels so they could eat and live. But the principle remains the same: we sometimes need to isolate ourselves from all distractions and focus on God for that is the only way to pray to Our Awesome God.
The distractions and constant demands that are found in life create a loss of our "peace" and contentment. We end up losing "contact" with God and at "war" with those around us. In short, we are grumpy and unhappy. Are you one of the many people around you that are unhappy with life and people? When you focus on God and not on your next task, He and you know you are serious about getting an answer. We need to take those problems, those "things" that break our "peace" and leave them with Our Awesome God then walk away.
If this is you, then just do as this woman of long ago did, "shut the door upon her and upon her sons," and spend time alone with Our Awesome God. God worked the miracle she needed and He will work your miracle of "peace" in the crazy world that surrounds us if you will ask. God loves YOU! He will love you no matter what you have done.
If you are a Christian and believe in Jesus Christ, you should tell all that you meet about Jesus Christ. If you aren't a Christian, you need to come to our church or join any church that preaches and teaches that Jesus Christ died for you, taking your sins upon Himself and arose the third day to sit by God, interceding for you when you sin. Our Awesome God wants all to enjoy our peaceful heaven with Him. He loves you! Join us at LWBC as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard to tell everyone about Jesus Christ and His salvation. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM. There are many opportunities to learn about God in our programs. See what you can do!
