"If ye love me, keep my commandments."
(John 14:15 KJV)
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
(John 14:21 KJV)
According to Holman's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, a succinct definition of biblical obedience is, "to hear God's Word and act accordingly." Then biblical obedience means simply to hear, trust, submit and surrender to Our Awesome God and obey his Word.
In the above Scripture Verse, it states that we will keep His Commandments if we love Our Awesome God. But we are flawed in our love because we are always sinning and that is breaking or not following God's Commandments. Can we be obedient and follow His Commandments which are for our own good? Deuteronomy 11:26–28 sums it up like this: "Obey and you will be blessed. Disobey and you will be cursed."
Commandments from Our Awesome God are given with love and an understanding of what you need. God gave commandments to us because He loves us and wants the best for us. As we grow older, it oft times becomes harder to believe that God can have no other reasons for giving us commandments. This is because we often equate God with our earthly fathers and the fathers we see around us. God is God and He created you! He loves you with a love that is beyond description!
It will improve our welfare and happiness to obey Our Awesome God! We will prosper in all our endeavors, we will be better people, and we will have an eternal home with all amenities. But most of all, we will show our love for God in obeying Him. It is so little to ask us to do when God has done so much for us! Try hard to allow Him to lead your way through this world for He knows all the right answers and all the best things to do. Jesus Christ is that perfect leader we have always wanted and needed!
Our Awesome God with His knowledge, love, mercy and grace is all we need, if we obey and accept Jesus Christ, for eternal life in heaven. We need to learn as much as possible about God, His Son and the purpose for our lives on earth and in heaven. So join us each Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and 10:30 AM for Worship Service. AWANA and Bible Studies are available. We want you to know and love our God! We at LWBC teach and preach from God's Holy Bible and believe that He sent His Son for our salvation. Come learn with us! Happy Valentines Day!
