"Thou (God) leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron."
(Psalms 77:20 KJV)
"But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock."
(Psalms 78:52 KJV)
The verses above make us realize that Our Awesome God is our Shepherd, even today, if we are listening to Him as He directs and guides us over the problems Christians have. We need to use others in the Christian community and church to help and protect us through some problems, but God is our ultimate and best help when problems occur.
The shepherd takes advantage of his sheep’s instinct to get into a group for protection when danger approaches. Also, sheep dogs are taught to get them together, for the sheep, themselves, have very little to protect them and the sheep dog will attack those that would attack his sheep. He will also alert the shepherd to the danger and the shepherd will protect his flock. Just as Our Awesome God guides and protects us because He, along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit is our Shepherd.
As part of Our Awesome God's flock, we are trusting Christ to guide us and protect us while other Christians help shield us with their presence. We need to remember we are surrounded by a larger body of other Christians such as our pastor, our counselors and deacons who have a sense of accountability for us.
Yes, we are responsible and accountable for our individual thoughts and actions on a daily basis but we shouldn't think just in terms of "me" when trouble comes, but in terms of "we." We need to recognize ourselves as part of Our Awesome God's flock with others to be helped and to help us, with others to be guided with the Holy Bibles words and not just "me." The church you belong to should be one you trust to guide you and encourage you because they read God's Holy Word, preach and teach it. God is our Shepherd!
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 9:30 AM for Bible Study and at 10:30 AM for a Praise and Worship Service. At 6:00 PM Sunday evening, we have a Bible Study along with AWANA for children until 7:30 PM. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
