"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
(1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV)
Prayers for people who are in positions of authority have high priority in the heart of God and should have a high priority for us. Good decisions help the advancement of God's Kingdom. We see in this Scripture quoted above that Our Awesome God does want us to pray "for those in authority." Who needs prayer more than our president? We cannot afford to leave prayers up to others. So pray!
Every president needs prayer badly. They are always being pushed to do something that is against Our Awesome God's Laws. So pray that our God will guide our president and surround him with wise and discerning counsel that he will listen to and follow (Proverbs 11:14 KJV). Pray that the president has moral strength, discernment, understanding and love for the people he is leading. Help our president to be honest and just in all that he does by praying for him to understand and love God (Proverbs 3:5-8 KJV; Romans 10:14).
Lobbyist want their patrons given special privileges, the senators want privileges for their states, organizations want special laws to promote their products, etc. A president is pursued everywhere he goes for these special privileges for special groups. He needs all the help from Our Awesome God that he will accept such as 1) that if unsaved, he will be drawn to a saving encounter with Christ; if born-again, he will be strengthened and encouraged in the faith (1 Timothy 2:4 KJV, Ephesians 1:17-23 KJV) and 2) that he will be convicted of his sin, transgressions, and iniquity (Psalms 51:17 KJV, John 8:9 KJV).
Let us start praying for our presidents who obviously need Our Awesome God's help and knowledge. Complaining is not the answer but backing him up with prayer is what God wants. Join us as we read our Bible about God, think of Him, and pray to Him every day to help our president make wise godly decisions.
We (as a church) want all people in church, worshipping Our Awesome God with faith and obedience every Sunday.
