"Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me."
(Psalms 51:1-3 KJV)
For things to get better, sometimes you must get better and Our Awesome God is the Way. We may change our circumstances and even seek for a more favorable location or environment, but we will take ourselves with us wherever we go. Jesus asked us to “consider the lilies” in Matthew 6:28. These flowers grow where they have been planted. Many of us refuse to grow where we are placed and, because of that, we never take root anywhere. Instead we want to be planted in a better set of circumstances before we will serve God.
There are things in all of our lives that must die through prayer, fasting, and submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not so important what happens to us, it is far more important what happens in us. We need to be changed for Our Awesome God to work with us, use us and improve us. We cannot see the BIG picture and what will happen if we continue as we are going. It starts when we admit we need to change. We are the problem!
The above Scripture is King David weeping to Our Awesome God because the prophet, Nathan, has told David that God knows about his sin with Bathsheba. Read Psalm 51. David knew he must change, not the circumstances or the temptation, but himself and he needed God’s help. So he asked Him to enable him to change.
Our time with Jesus should change us too. While it’s important to bring our needs before Our Awesome God, prayer should not be first and foremost a recitation of everything we want. Yes, we tell God about the situations and problems that are troubling us – but then we also need to sit still and listen. Meditate on the promises of His Word and change what needs to be changed with His help.
Prayer changes things, it’s true. But most importantly, prayer changes us. Prayer can change our attitudes and prayer can change our actions. Are you willing to let Our Awesome God change you? Then meet Him now in prayer. Pray to Our Awesome God to change you into the person He wants you to be.
We invite you to come change with us. We start with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:30 AM.
