"The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands."
(Psalms 138:8 KJV)
Many times it is hard to submit to Our Awesome God because we don't really comprehend how great His love and mercy are. So we don't pray and ask Him because we don't want to know what He wants. We just do as we want and get busy trying to make it work. So God finds a way to get your attention to remind you He loves you and is in charge, not you. This may continue for a while but if you don't respond, God will eventually get your attention by causing you to suffer with what you may think is the worst thing that could happen to you.
Suffering has its own problems because, at first, you may rant and rave at Our Awesome God, especially if you are a Christian. It is in this deep suffering that the Holy Spirit works the miraculous things that God had tried to do without your suffering. While suffering, we eventually are held still and calm under God's loving hand. We become submissive and love this beautiful peace that He gives, causing us to be quiet and still, deep in our souls. In this complete submission, we become quiet and listen to each inflection of His voice as He talks to us. Finally, our only purpose in life is meeting God's will for us the way Our Awesome God wants it done because we realize it is for our good that He wants it done and that meeting God's purpose makes us happy (Romans 8:28).
Yes, now you have complete submission to our Lord! It is an overwhelming feeling of freedom, it is God's responsibility not yours, which brings you a calm, a trust and a love that is felt deep in your soul. In his book, Soul Food, Francois Fenelon wrote, "What a blessing to lose our own strength, wisdom, plans, and desires and to be where every ounce of our being becomes like a peaceful Sea of Galilee under the omnipotent feet of Jesus!"
Our Awesome God gives us what we really want but don't think we want because we cannot comprehend that anyone can care so much and love us so greatly as He does. It is humbling that God can know everything about you and what you think, and still want the VERY best for you! Learn all you can about Our Awesome God from His Bible and His church because our God is awesome.
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others and reminding ourselves about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better.
