"And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan–rishathaim."
(Judges 3:10 KJV)
"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."
(Matthew 12:31 KJV)
Most Christians would tell you that the Holy Spirit is the third divine person in the Holy Trinity referred to as the Father God, Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit with each Person being an integral part of Our Awesome God and they would be correct. Each of these divine Persons have functions they perform either for the church or for a Christian.
We will focus on the Holy Spirit and its function in the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is to bring people to a "saving knowledge" of Jesus Christ and why He died on the cross for every human being. Then, once the person accepts Jesus Christ as his Savior, the Holy Spirit indwells the individual to bring him knowledge of what the Scriptures say and mean (John 14:26) while helping them to live righteous lives. So listen to that still small voice when it says, "NO"! Is it what Our Awesome God would want and what Jesus Christ would do? If so follow His directions!
Another task or function of the Holy Spirit is to give "gifts" or "fruits of the Spirit" to active Christians to enhance their ability to spread the knowledge of Our Awesome God and Jesus Christ. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law". (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). The Holy Spirit will increase those "gifts" He has given you as long as you use them for the advancement of the kingdom of God.
The Holy Spirit is an important part of bringing us knowledge of Jesus Christ and His saving powers and He resides in our hearts, reminding us of what Our Awesome God wants us to do. The "fruit of the Spirit" or "gifts" are given by Him.
If you are a Christian who has strayed away from Our Awesome God or someone who has never been a Christian or a person who needs to help minister to others, join us at Living Word Baptist Church on Sunday at 10:30 AM for worship and caring from our church of Christians. On Wednesdays, we meet at 7:00 PM for Prayer Requests, and a Bible Study follows until 8:00 PM. We welcome all people and love them!
