"Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him."
(Genesis 40:23 KJV)
"And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river. "
(Genesis 41:1 KJV)
"Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh."
(Genesis 41:14 KJV)
Joseph was the son of Jacob and Rachel and the great grandson of Abraham from Our Awesome God's chosen family. Joseph was the oldest son of Rachel so he was greatly loved by his father. He was hated by his jealous brothers and they sold him into slavery. In Egypt, he was put into prison unjustly and had been there several years when he met a man who was in prison with him and interpreted his dreams for him with God's help. Joseph had told the man what God had revealed that his dream meant and asked him to tell pharaoh about Joseph. Then he waited years before the man remembered his promise to tell the Pharaoh about Joseph. (Read Genesis 40-41).
The man was the chief butler in Pharaoh's palace when Pharaoh had a dream he wanted someone to interpret for him. At the butler’s suggestion, they sent for Joseph who told Pharaoh what Our Awesome God said the dream meant. Then Joseph was made a ruler over Egypt. The story of Joseph is important to show how Joseph trusted God and how God used his life to improve the lives of others including His chosen people. Joseph's trust in God was used to keep the Egyptians and God's chosen people from starving (Genesis 50:20).
We Christians, as Our Awesome God's adopted people, need to remember to trust God since He does all things for our good and to help others (Romans 8:28). God delayed answering Joseph's prayers for a greater purpose of meeting the needs of all of Joseph's family. Could God be waiting for you to become more trusting before He gives you answers? Or maybe there is something in your life God wants you to change to increase your trust in Him? Our Awesome God may have a greater plan to change things through you but He knows the right time to do it!
Join us as we work in Our Awesome God's vineyard, telling others about His story, Jesus Christ's Salvation, and our eternal home with Him, trying to help them to understand Our Creator better. Our church starts with small groups on Sunday at 9:30 AM and a Worship Service at 10:30 AM. On Sunday evening at 6:00 PM, a Bible Study meets for an hour and there is more during the week. We love visitors!
