"Now a great sign appeared in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. "
(Revelation 12:1-3 KJV)
"Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard."
(2 Kings 19:20 KJV)
We have wars "and rumors of war" here on earth all our lives (Matthew 24:6). We are all painfully aware of the physical wars in our world because even remote ones affect our lives. People are less aware of spiritual warfare. Revelation 12 describes a struggle between a woman, her Child and a dragon. The woman represents Our Awesome God’s people, the Child is Christ and the dragon is Satan. The Child is taken to heaven and the woman escapes on earth, but the dragon continues to make war on her. Revelation is telling of a future war on earth that will be catastrophic.
Can there be wars in heaven? Would Our Awesome God permit war in heaven? Isaiah 14:12 says that Lucifer (Satan) was forcibly removed from heaven and Revelation 12:7-9 describes one: "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon ; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not, ..." (Revelation 7-8 KJV)
In the time of King Hezekiah, he prayed to Our Awesome God and the Lord responded with a miraculous victory for Hezekiah and Israel; "Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard. And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses." (2 Kings 19:20, 35 KJV)
Our Awesome God wants you to pray about all wars and those in them. Because, like all prayers, they clarify for us what we believe and make us realize why we believe what we believe. In short, God wants our prayers on all subjects so we can realize what we believe and plant it firmly in our minds or change it if we are going to. Pray about all things, even wars!! God listens! And God has already won!
We invite you to our church services on Sunday morning (9:30 AM) and evening (6:00 PM) for Bible Study along with AWANA for children, and Wednesday evening (7:00 PM) for Prayer Meeting. When you come, ask about the home Bible studies during the week and the choir and Intercessory Prayer Team. We love visitors and would enjoy meeting you and telling you about Our Awesome God
