"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."
(1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV)
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
(John 4:23-24 KJV)
Have you ever wondered, "Am I pleasing God when I worship the way I do? What could I do to make Him really happy?" Ways to worship Our Awesome God might include giving, praising and even singing but we want to know what God really wants from us when we worship in all the ways mentioned above.
The Bible doesn't say much about specific ways to worship God except the detailed instructions of the Mosaic Laws. The Bible does tell us that God wants your heart to be in the worship and that He sees the heart. What does seem to be of importance to Our Awesome God is the motivation of your heart as in "...in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24 & Mark 12:43-44).
After reading the Scriptures above, it seems that God is interested in two things: 1) God wants you to give Him glory and, 2) He wants the worship to be in the right Spirit and with the truth in your heart which equals your motivation for the worship. But a third interest of God is 3) that everyone gets a chance to know about God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Don't just go through the motions of worship, do it with all your heart.
We must be involved in worshipping, giving, praising and even singing with the right motivation and giving God the glory for what He has done. So check your motivation for doing anything for the Our Awesome God because He will know whether it is acceptable or not. If your motivation is not right, change your motivation quickly. Spend time just telling God about the wonderful things has done for you.
When your motivation is right, you will begin to feel an excitement as worship time or praise time approaches. Do you realize that one of the primary resources to uplift your spirit is giving praise and bringing glory to God? Fulfilling your purpose of worshipping the Lord satisfies an inner need (or purpose) you have. Check your worship and see if it is pleasing to both you and God!
